Hello Lovelies!
Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend that is filled with sunshine! It is absolutely beautiful here - the sun is shining brightly and it is 27 degrees, it feels like summer! Today I am working on getting all settled into my new house, it's a bit smaller than my last one so I have been having quite the time trying to fit all of my things into this space! I seriously am concerned that I may be a bit of a hoarder, the amount of things I have (that I don't need) is completely absurd. I really want my new home to reflect my style a bit more, I really want to spend the time making it my home and more of a creative space for myself unlike my last home.
Hopefully I'll be able to make my place look neat & chic rather than messy and disorganized - wish me luck, I need it!
While I am organizing I will also be indulging in some refreshing mojitos and some much needed time in the sun. I am getting quite nervous about how badly I am going to burn while I am in Italy, my cousin (who I will be travelling with) has been going to the tanning booth to prepare for the sun but I cannot do that unfortunately. I am not sure if I've ever shared this with you, because it is ridiculous and somewhat embarrassing, but last year when I tried to get a base tan for Cuba I went to a tanning booth and had a bit of an adverse reaction. When I had walked into the tanning salon the girl behind the counter said "well, lets start you at only 3 minutes, you're quite pale so I think we should start you at our minimum" so in I went for three minutes. After the 180 seconds was up I left the tanning salon feeling totally fine, totally normal, no complaints - yet - about 4 hours later I was at home, thrashing around feeling like my skin was literally on fire. I felt like little needles were pricking my already burning skin and I couldn't help but twist and turn in pain. After hours of this I finally called the salon asking them what in God's name was happening to me? They said it sounded like tanners-itch, which happens to people who have over-stayed their welcome in the tanning booth - apparently 3 minutes is too long for my skin! After this I promised myself to never return to a tanning booth, the pain was too great and uncomfortable for me to willingly put myself through again. If you've had this to the extreme I did, you seriously wouldn't do it again either!
Anyways this post isn't about my rebellious skin, it's about a DIY necklace I made last night that I am totally in love with!
I haven't done a DIY in a long long time which is crazy because I love to make things at home, but for some reason I just haven't been sharing them with you! I am going to start sharing these more often with you because they are something that I really love to do and I think you all may enjoy them!

Recently, my step-dad gave me all of his grand-mothers old jewelry. She had a lot of really lovely old costume jewelry that was really beautiful, though a bit out of date. After asking him permission to update it (to which he said Uhm, of course Bree - you'll actually wear it then!) I decided to change the colours on it to make it more modern and wearable.
What you'll need:
1. Multiple nailpolishes in the colours of your choosing.
2. An old necklace & earring set
Before:
See this is it before, and I do still really like it - the colours are pretty, but I just felt like the colours weren't really my style. I couldn't imagine what I would wear it with and I just felt like it may sit in my jewelry box unworn if I didn't make it more Me. I adore lilac, pink, and purple but like the colours all together looked a bit dated.
After:
After a bit of contemplating on what colour scheme I wanted to try out, I finally settled on some of my favourite pastels: Mint greens & sandy beige. I have really been loving these colours lately, they have been making frequent appearances in my wardrobe and so I decided why not add one more piece to my pastel collection?
I really do feel like this set is much more modern now, and it is definitely a piece I will wear all the time. I really love these colours and I can imagine pairing this with many of the clothes in my closet. I am thinking a stark white dress paired with this set would look lovely, what do you think?
The best part of this DIY is how easy it is, and how inexpensive it it. Really you do not need to buy anything, most people have a couple nail polishes laying around at home & if you have an old necklace then you're set!
It's tons of fun to customize your jewelry to match your style!
