Ombre

Friday, 27 July 2012

Hey there ladies N' gents,

So if you've been reading my blog for a while then you'll know that I am trying to grow out my hair so that is long and lovely; Unfortunately it is in a "awkward" stage right now cause though because my roots are peaking through and I cannot do anything about them! I know many of you are thinking "stop being a fool and dye your hair!" but you see I can't yet because I need enough  roots to colour match!

Anyways I have been thinking a lot about my options for my hair which really only included: Dye my whole head back to my natural colour or Ombre my natural colour and have it fade out at the ends to my blonde hair?
I know it seems silly to only "half" go natural, but I am scared to lose my light blonde hair - I love it and I want it to stick around... at least on the ends.

Now I do love the look of Ombre hair but I tend to like the more natural look over the shocking, edgy ombre style. I am a pretty natural person, I don’t like to fuss around with my hair too much and in fact going Ombre would make my hair even less-fuss because it would mean my natural colour would be now the majority of my hair colour – but am I ready to take such a big step? Will I even like it on me? So so many things to contemplate before diving in!

What do you all think?
Yay or Nay?

  1. I think ombre hair can look lovely if it's done properly, and if it goes wrong you can always dye it again!

I say go for it, what do you have to lose? :)

  2. Yay!! I did this to my hair (at home) a few months ago! I loved it! But it faded fast as my hair doesn't hold color well. But I've wanted to do it again! I say go for it. I think it would look lovely!

  5. I love the ombre pics you posted here Bree! It looks so good! But you need a hairdresser that really knows HOW TO do it. I think it would look great on you, but worried because you haven't had great experiences with hairdressers in the past. I wouldn't want something like this to set you back after making so many accomplishments with your hair. You'll make the right decision.

  7. I sya go for it. Amd I happen to think that ombre hair actually looks quite natural and subtle, though it depends on how different the colours are.

I think it would look nice. I used to have ombre hair and used to do it myself and it always looked fine :)

  9. I think as long as it is done natural to blend your two colors and not to be drastic it will look great.
Maybe ask her to go a shade lighter than your roots so it isn't as shocking and will still grow In easily.
I think it takes time to get used to a new look but if u want to go natural why not try it.

    1. Oh I totally agree, I would never want drastic colours - very natural and sun kissed looking. I think it'd be a good way to get my natural colour more in my hair! xx

  10. Hmm.. yay or nay? I think both options are great.... but as you say your a natural person; just dye it back to your natural hair color, I think it's gorgeous... and well, who doesn't have an Ombre hair style nowadays? I think it's getting a little boring, but well..that's just my opinion hihi. Of course both will look gorgeous on you!

Wishing you a lovely sunny weekend!!

    1. Yeah I can see your point, Ombre is very popular now but I also think it is a really nice way to keep your hair looking sun-kissed for summer. I really love being blonde, I just wish it wasn't so damaging! I think it could be a good way to keep a bit of blonde in my hair while I am getting used to my darker blonde/brown hair colour. True though, maybe I should just suck it up and get my whole head done to match my natural! Decisions, Decisions! xx

      Delete
    2. Well, if you can't decide.. you could get the Ombre look now (for summer) and when you get bored with it, just have the points colored to your natural hair color :D! But well, that's 2x a visit to the hair dresser :D!

      Delete
    3. Thats very true! I am definitely thinking/ weighing my options and seeing which is better - it's so hard to decide though! xx

  13. Ooh, tough one! Ombre can look amazing (like in the picture of the mostly blond model looking at the light, or in the second picture from the top) or it can be a total miss. But isn't that the fun of fashion - being daring? At the worst, you can always try again! I think you can pull it off :)

  14. I know that ombre is eeeeverywhere right now, but I think that it is such a lovely look and can look really natural and sunkissed. As your ends are already blonde you could get your roots darker/colour matched so you don't have to dye the ends more? If my hair wasn't so mullered I would totally ombre xxx

    1. I do agree, it's everywhere for sure - but I think it is here to stay too. It's so natural looking and pretty that I think it's almost the same as doing an all-over colour now. xx

  17. I think the ombre looks gorgeous BUT it's going to be a lot of maintenance. If you want to spend less time getting your hair done, dye it back to your natural color. After dying my hair blonde for awhile, I decided to dye it as close as I could to my natural color and now years later, it seems to be back in its natural state :)

  26. I love the ombre look and actually did it to my own hair back in October. It still hasn't grown out and it damaged my ends- which made me end up cutting a few inches off. So if you are looking to keep your length, I'd suggest not doing the ombre. If a few inches isn't going to bother you, go for it!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. But is that because you had to bleach your ends? I won't have to do that which is the good part.... Definitely will look into the damage aspect though! xx

      Delete
    2. Yeah honestly I think it's the bleach that fried it- even though I only left it on for a short amount of time. Yours would be the opposite, am I correct? You should be fine then- go for it!

      Delete
    3. Yeah I would be putting a darker blonde on my roots and leaving my ends. My hair is really blonde right now and I'd just want to get my natural more woven into my hair so that it grows in more naturally. It's scary losing the blonde though, that's why I am thinking ombre may be my route! xx
