Saturday's Summertime Picks

Dress/ Hat / Earrings / HeelsSwim Suit / BronzerSun Beam Highlighter / Bag

Well Summer has began and people are beginning to break out their favourite bikinis, summer dresses, and sandals. In honour of summer I decided to make up a little wish list of items that I think would be adorable to wear on a hot summer day, as well as a few cosmetic items to help give us that beautiful sun kissed glow.
I am not sure about you guys, but where I live it is still looking like we are in the middle of winter! It's cold, grey and rainy - infact on Saturday we are supposed have a big storm! Yuck!

Anyways, back to day-dreaming about hot summer days, I wanted to first discuss with you this adorable sun-yellow dress! I personally love this dress - the colour is beautiful, the side cut-outs are sexy and the neckline is sweet and pretty - it is just too adorable to not fall in love with.
Secondly, the hat, earrings and heels to me complete a summer look. The hat gives a cute, flirty and fun look while the earrings and heels give the look a bit more of a stylish edge.
Third, this bathing suit is perfect for summer - I love the bright colour and the adorable pattern! Plus I personally always have found that bikinis that have ties on the side are much more flattering (at least on me!) because you can adjust how fitted you want it to fit.
Fouth, the two cosmetic items on my list are to create wonderfully glowy skin. I tend to burn, not tan,  in the summer so often I lather up with quite a bit of sunscreen which leaves me without a chance of a tan and without that wonderful sun kissed glow many sun-lovers get! Of course I want to have that sun kissed look so I have to fake it a bit, I use bronzers and highlighters to achieve this look and best of all I get the look without any of the longterm damage! I have yet to try Laguna bronzer by NARS or the Sun Beam highlighter, but I have tried Orgasm blusher by NARS and the High Beam by benefit highlighter and I loved them both so I am looking forward to trying these out in the future (when I get paid!)

Lastly, I think a summer beach bag is a total necessity during the summer. You want something cute, bright and fun that you can carry around all your beauty, beach and techy necessities! I love this beach bag so much, the bright coral stripes are adorable and I think it would look super cute paired with that big floppy coral hat!

What's on your wishlist?

In the Boho Blues

Thursday, 28 June 2012

Hey there!
One more day til the weekend! And this weekend is a long weekend, hooray! The best part about long weekends to me is that Jer & I get to plan a nice, relaxing, not-too-far, out of town getaway to really soak up our time off. This long weekend we are actually heading to wine country to not only sip on wine, but also to visit some of Jeremy's much-missed childhood friends. I am very excited to have a few days off and spend some quality time with Jeremy.

Enough about my weekend plans, onto the outfit! This is an outfit I really like because it has a causal boho feel to it without being sloppy or messy looking! I love that it is comfortable, airy and lightweight so a warm summer day without looking like just a plain tank top and jean shorts.
The sky-blue top is slouchy and easy to wear, pairing it with the belt gives the outfit more structure and shape though you can wear it without the belt for a more relaxed look. The white shorts are from American Eagle and they are a higher-waisted short that really hug all the right places without being too fitted or showy. Showy white shorts are never good!!!
I really love gladiator sandals and so I opted to match this outfit with my favourite pair! I bought them from Spring last summer and have loved them ever since. They are super comfortable and easy to wear around all day (sans blisters!) plus they match a multitude of outfits. Originally when I had bought them I worried they may not go with many outfits, but in-fact they go with dresses, shorts, jeans, rompers - everything!

The deep-navy blue purse is from She She and actually this was my mum's bag until I stole it (In reality she gave it to me, I am no thief!). The bag is really lovely, its over-sized and super soft making it a perfect casual day bag. (Thanks, mom!)
Then there is the ring (from Suzy Shier), a lovely little addition to this outfit that I feel really ties all the colours together in a fun, cute, & flirty way. I just love it!

Anyways, I saw this on a few blogs recently and I thought it was kind of cute, and a fun way for you all to get to know me a bit better! Hope you like it!

Favorite color: I love Green, mostly I love light minty greens.

Favorite number: I don't really have a favourite number, when I was young I liked 5 & 9 but I am not sure why....

Favorite animal: Penguins!!!

Favorite non-alcoholic drink: I like tea, I drink a lot of tea, and besides that I just usually drink water. But if I am going to cave and drink pop then it'll always either be Rootbeer or Gingerale - Yummy!

Facebook or twitter: Meh, neither? I have both but I wouldn't say I am overly into one or the other.

What is my passion: I think my biggest passion is travel. I haven't been to tons and tons of places but just thinking about going away makes me so excited. I sit on google for hours looking up places and discovering new destinations that I must see. Aside from that I love blogging, its a huge passion for me - I miss it when I can't do it! And then there is scrap-booking, another hobby that I love!

Receiving or giving: Though it can be lots of fun to receive things, I have always found it is much more fun to give - I love seeing the suprise and smiles on peoples faces when I give them something they really wanted or something they didn't know they wanted but they really love!

Favorite pattern: I am not sure, I really like brocade patterns, I love floral patterns,  and I love plaid - especially in the wintertime.... Why choose just one?

Favorite day of the week: Saturday!

Favorite flowers: I love all flowers really, especially pale pink, white and yellow flowers - they are just so lovely. Orchids are always beautiful, elegant and classy - they are definitely one of my favourites.

Hope you liked the outfit and enjoyed getting to know me a bit better!

One more day til the joyous weekend!!

Au-Naturale Makeup Tutorial

Wednesday, 27 June 2012

Recently while I was getting ready to go out with Jeremy, I was mid-bronzer application when Jeremy said "You should share this look with your readers!" because apparently he thinks you all would enjoy finding out how to get this look with only a few very easy steps!

FYI: The instructions are above the corresponding photo so that you read the instructions and then see the visual application. Much clearer that way I think!

Eyes
Concealer time: Okay to start off this look we are going to hide-away any little annoying imperfections, for example I like to hide away my under-eye discolouration.

I feel like I always look a bit on the tired side, (probably because I am always on the tired side) so to hide it away for the day I apply a bit of my Bare Escentuals concealer to the bottom of my eye as well as my eyelid, I blend it well and then set it with the Bare Escentuals setting powder.

Much better right? I look well rested for once!

Lid Eyeshadow: Now, since we are already working on the eyes lets continue with our eye make-up, the next step being Eye Shadow. I use a really light bare colour on my eye lid and brow-bone called Nylon because it brightens it up a bit while giving a light shimmer on the brow bone which creates a larger looking eye.

Sorry for the weird pouty lip, apparently I cannot apply makeup and look like a normal person during application.

Crease Eye Shadow: Next step is the crease colour, a colour I used in my previous make-up post because I just love it so much, it's called Soba.I lightly apply it to my eye corner and wing it out towards my brow bone to create a more feline eye-shape.

Highlighter: Next up is high-lighting! I like to take my little highlighter pen (which I got a super long time ago, not sure the brand honestly) in a very light gold shade and line my under eye lightly as well as my inner-corner. I feel like this really brightens my eye up and makes me look refreshed and awake.

Eyeliner: Then I take my mac smudge-able eyeliner in Bountiful Brown, a really nice dark brown shade, and line my top-lid. I then take my smudge brush and smudge the eyeliner in and smudge the eyeliner on the outter-corners more outward to emphasise the cat-eye look a bit more. See how light and natural it is though? It's not a dark, heavy cat eye, its a light daytime cat eye!

Lashes: Lastly I use mascara. I don't care whether its day or night, I load on mascara, I like my lashes to look long and thick - perhaps this isn't the most "natural" look but I think it suits my Au-Naturale look just fine!

Face
Now moving on to your face! I'll tell you all right now, I don't ever use foundation on my face so that may be a step you need to add into this if you do use foundation.
Anyways, first I use on my face is bronzer for this look. I put it in the hallows of my cheeks and then very lightly all over to give a sun kissed look.

obviously do not need to suck in your cheeks quite as obnoxiously as I have, this is just for clear demonstration!

I like to use my Bare Escentuals bronzer, not only because it is new, also because it feels really light on my skin which is incredible important to me - I do not like to feel or look like I am wearing a ton of makeup.

Lips
Lips are again very simple, I only use a clinque lip-cream called Ginger. I love this colour because it has a bit of a pink-hue to it while still being very nude and natural.

Result:

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! I would love to hear your feedback on this tutorial and on any other tutorials you'd like to see on my blog in the future!

Also I was curious to know if you guys would like to see makeup tutorials and hair tutorials via video in the future?

Pretty in Pink

Tuesday, 26 June 2012

Good Morning Everybody!
(or good afternoon/ night depending on where you are in the world!)

So,I am back and in full swing now after my trip, finally got all rested up and am back on schedule! Sorry for the lack of posts last week, I was really out of it - for a whole week, seriously! Jet-lag and post-vacay depression really can get ya down! But now I am back on track and ready to get back to blogging!

If you know me, then you know I can be a pretty big girly-girl. Don't get me wrong, I can be out-doorsy too, I enjoy camping & hiking but sometimes I just want to put on a pink, frilly, uber-girly dress, a pair of cute heels and walk around waving like the Queen.
Yes, I do get some bewildered stares when I walk down the street waving like a maniac.

Jose Eber Petite Hair Straightener Review

Sunday, 24 June 2012

Oh, Hello there!

Recently I returned from a 21 day Euro trip in Italy and Spain and during my time away I tested a few items that have been marketed as "on the go" products because I wanted to see just how quick and easy they were for someone literally constantly on the go.
The main item I tried out was the Jose Eber Petite Straightener, it was perfect for my bag - light and small - but would it work for my hair?

My curly, frizzy, and wild hair is only made worse by extreme heat so if anything was going to put this tool to the test it would be my manic hair!
And on thee third day of our trip, after washing my hair, I finally got to put the straightener to the test! Would it work? Or would I be suffering through three weeks of bad hair?

Europe Pt. 1: When In Rome...

Friday, 22 June 2012

Bree & Bri Go to Rome!

On May 26th I set off to Rome, a place I'd never been before and I was so excited to see. Hopping on the plane I couldn't help but have excited jitters run through my body, and a giant smile on my face - I was off to Rome, Rome the city of ruins & exquisite beauty, how did I get so lucky?
Our first flight was long, 10 hours and 45 minutes long, and there were children running around crying and screaming for the entire flight. We tried to sleep but honestly it was impossible with the constant crying of children. I can only imagine how uncomfortable flying must be for children, their ears just must ache - even my ears ache!
We flew into Frankfurt feeling tired and disshelved, but we had to hold it together and catch our next flight - a lovely, easy, quiet 2 hour flight into Rome.  My cousin and I slumped in our seats and let exhaustion take over, heads bobbing awake whenever we hit turbulence.

Pumpkin

Wednesday, 20 June 2012

Hey Everyone!

I am still writing up my posts about my euro-experience, so they'll be up later this week but today I wanted to share with you a lovely skirt I received from www.Oasap.com!

They sent me this adorable light orange skirt about one week ago while I was away, it was a lovely surprise to come home to this past Saturday. Unwrapping the thick silver wrapping of the travel package I was delighted to see the light, smooth, pumpkin hued material and I was even more thrilled when I saw that the top of the skirt has an adorable flared out detail, unlike any skirt I've seen.

Home & Reminiscing

Monday, 18 June 2012

Hey Everyone!

I am back home and feeling much more rested after my two nights of relaxing next to my favourite man and sleeping in a warm, comfortable, clean bed. For the first time in weeks I deep conditioned my hair, painted my nails and watched a movie and after doing all that, all the little things I missed whilst away, I felt ready to return back to the beautiful sunshine of Europe - this time I would back Jeremy so he would come along with me!

I am so excited to divulge all the details of my trip to you, though it will take some time for me to finally get my mind sorted to finally write it all out for you so my Euro-Posts will be up in a few short days.

I'll give a little sneak peek from my trip to you all...
here is a photo of my cousin and I in Cinque Terre - the most beautiful sprawl of towns along the Italian coast:

Hey there all of you!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend, enjoyed the sunshine and relaxed a bit before the long week ahead!

Today I am showing you all a dress that I purchased from Winners around Christmas time for a Christmas party actually but I've found that though it works wonderfully in the winter months, it also works wonderfully in the summer months!

The lovely pattern of roses is beautifully abstract and has a soft of artistic, romantic, whimsical feel that is just so gorgeous. The thick black band around the waist really accentuates the waistline and makes it look smaller which I love (who doesn't!)

Sometimes (always) I cannot help myself, my inside shopping-addict comes out & takes hold - and then there is no stopping me! Even at Wal-Mart my addiction comes out, I run over to the make-up department and come out with more products than I could ever want, need and afford.

Physicians Formula Eyeliner & Serum

This serum claims to make your lashes longer, and that you'll notice a difference only a few short weeks - some people claim that they saw results within one week. Well, I stupidly was sucked into this sort of advertising because I adore big thick lashes but I have yet to see the results a week and a half later. I'll keep up on it, if it works I'll be happy but I have a feeling this is a gimmicky product that has made some big claims, and makes even bigger disappointments.

Sephora: The Key to My Heart

Saturday, 9 June 2012

**I am now in Europe. I wrote this post previous to my departure, hope you all enjoy! **
____________________________________________________________________________________
Where am I you ask? Click here!

It is well known amongst my friends that if you have run out of makeup you can ask me and I probably will have what you're asking for or at least something like it. The reason I am this way is because of Sephora. I walk into Sephora and am instantly without any willpower against the wondrous items they carry, instead of buying that one thing I went in for - I buy 20 things I never even knew until that moment! I always give myself a little pep talk before walking into Sephora, "Bree! Keep strong, go in there and pick up that one item, walk to the cash register and then book it out of there! No browsing!!" and then within seconds that pep talk fades into the background of the beautiful items that are perfectly shelved in front of me.

Recently I went to Sephora, and like every other time I've been in Sephora, I went a bit more overboard that I had intended. The plan was to pick up the NARs illuminator in "Super Orgasam", which I did, but then I was stopped by a pretty pink lipstick on the way to the register. "Super Moisturizing, Light colour, Extra Hydrating" called out to me and so I thought, "Would one more item really kill me? Nah, I'll get this too!" and I carried on my way toward the cashier. Unfortunately once again I was stopped, "Want long, thick, luscious hair?" Why, yes I do - and there in-front of me stood a variety of items by Phyto. When it comes to my hair I will spend almost anything if I think it could help its growth because every since I can remember I've wanted long, thick, full hair but have been jinxed into having long-ish, frizzy, curly hair. I picked up the "extra hydrating" mask and decided that this would be my last item of the day, and this last item shot up my bill to the point where I thought I may have to sit down for a moment to catch my breathe.

Upon bringing the conditioner home Jeremy couldn't help but roll his eyes, I've filled up the entire under-sink area with my makeup, conditioners, shampoos, face washes - everything a girl could want, really. Unfortunately a boy does not see it this way, he sees it as clutter which is really unfortunate because it's clutter he is going to have to live with because I simply refuse to "de-clutter" these beautiful things!

Being Blonde: You’re a piece of work!

Friday, 8 June 2012

**I am now in Europe. I wrote this post previous to my departure, hope you all enjoy! **
__________________________________________________________________
Where am I you ask? Click here!

If you've been reading my blog for some time then you'll known that in the last few months I decided to go back to my “roots” (not actually my roots, I have brown hair actually) and go back to being blonde. Growing up I was always blonde, and then one day – when I was about 14 that changed; My hair darkened and became a dirty ashy brown, of course I wasn’t prepared to give up my blonde hair so I kept up on it by highlighting it and dying it to my preferred shade. About two years ago I gave into my brunette roots and dyed my hair brown. At first I really liked it, my hair looked shinier and felt much softer, it was definitely healthier, but over time I got bored with it and began missing my old blonde hair.

Now I’ve been blonde again for about two months, and though I am totally in love with the colour, I am not in love with the up-keep.
