I hope you guys all had a really awesome Valentine’s Day. I for one had a great love-day because I spent it with my ridiculously fantastic boyfriend, Jer.

First he surprised me by offering to drive my into work yesterday morning which was much appreciated because I was a bit of a zombie. I had gone to bed far too late the night before (darn blogging distracting me!) so I was pretty groggy!

After work he picked me up and drove off, heading towards downtown to an (at the time) unknown destination. We arrived at "Vij's" restaurant at 5:00PM and were instantly greeted by the incredibly friendly and welcoming owner who helped us find our way to the back where our names would be taken down. This restaurant does not take reservations, it's a first come first serve sort of place but we were both a tad surprised to hear we would be waiting about an hour and a half for a table. As we stood in the back we indulged in some drinks and food that servers came around with; and though hearing we had to wait an hour and a half sounded long, it actually went by incredibly fast due to the cheerful and welcoming attitude of the establishment. 

Once we were seated we quickly decided what we were going to feast on because both our stomach had been grumbling and growling for the entire hour before. 

We ended up ordering: 
Appies: Mutton Kebobs with Bengali style curry, Portobello mushrooms sautéed in green onions & Khi on coriander seed spiced vegetables
Mains: wine marinated lamb popsicles in fenugreek cream curry on turmeric and spinach potatoes, grilled sablefish in tomato-yogurt broth and navy beans sautéed in masala sauce 

I can honestly say this was one of the best meals I have, and will ever have, EVER. It was just so extremely delicious. We had read rave reviews about this particular restaurant but my goodness I never would've expected it to be as amazing as it was. Basically what I am saying is if you ever visit Vancouver you must go to Vij's. 

I must say this Valentine’s Day was just so fantastic, all thanks to J.  I feel very lucky to have someone so great, loving and sweet in my life.
