I have always felt that the quote "if you've got nothing nice to say, then don't say anything at all" to ring true in my life, but sometimes you need to get honest and real. So usually I try to stick to the positive on my blog but I felt that perhaps it was time to show you a few products that didn't quite hit the mark for me.

Orgnx Hair Detangling Spray: I purchased this while I was on my way to go camping. I had gotten my Moroccan oil curl cream at home and began to worry about what my hair may look and feel like after a few days in the salt water and sunshine and so when I spotted the detangler I thought "why not?".  Well let me tell you why not: this product dried my hair and tangled it up even more than it already was. After the camping trip I decided to give it another try, I thought maybe due to the harsh conditions no detangler or hair cream could have help my hair. But I was wrong. When I got home I was disappointed to find the detangler did indeed just dry out my locks and make them even more unmanageable than normal!

BB (really) Thickening Serum: No product has ever disappointed me more than this product. I love big, voluminous hair and so when I went into Sephora and was told this BB product would give me just that, I had high expectations. After the first use I was pretty let down but I told myself to give the product a chance, maybe my expectations were unrealistic. Unfortunately after many, many uses I decided that this product just isn't all that great.. And it has quite a heft price of $27.00 for 1.50z too.

John Frieda Sheer Blonde Highlight Activating Shampoo & Sheer Blonde Colour Renew Conditioner: These two products are not horrible, but they just aren't great either. They didn't do anything special for my hair, and it just left it feeling dry and dull looking. I know some people who really these these two products so I may be the odd person out here on this one!

Silver Shiny Ultra Shampoo & Conditioner: I purchased this set when I was quite blonde in hopes that it would remedy any brassiness in my hair.  The sales people at Sally's Beauty had said this one was the best one in shop so I trusted their advice and purchased it. The first time I tried it I was absolutely horrified by how dry and crunchy it made my hair. I don't really recommend this to anyone. I think it's quite drying and quite damaging. I have read rave reviews online of these products but I simply do not agree!

  1. I hate buying products that just then sit there on your shelf 'cause they haven't lived up to expectation! I think the one hair care product I swear by is Argan oil. I use the Loreal shampoo & conditioner which both contain it, and the serum for whilst drying! My hair grew over 4 inches over summer whilst I was using it almost everyday when I was travelling! Really recommend it! x

    1. Same here! It's so disappointing! Usually I give them to my friends, sometimes they end up liking the products. It really depends on your hair type I guess, I just have really dry hair so products that dry it out more just are not for me!

  3. Appreciate your honesty! I used to use John Friedas thinking it was the best... until I switched over to a new shampoo and realized what I'd been missing the whole time. Agreed that Sheer Blonde is not that great.

  10. Hate it when you buy something expensive and you end up hating it.. I've got the same feeling with B&B sometimes, they're so expensive and I'd hate for something NOT to work after that hefty price tag!!

  15. I love hearing reviews on hair products. There are just so many options that I'd rather know what I'm in for before I drop a whole lotta dough! Obviously everyone's hair is different, but I do believe some products are just more hype than they are help. I used the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette products for ages because of all the hype and I really wanted to give it a chance, but it just did nothing for my hair. I usually stick with good old Pantene these days! XO

  17. I like to hear the truth about products. I need people who have purchased these products to tell me their honest opinions, so that I can make an informed decision. I don't need people to just give everything a rave review and then when I try it I find out that it is horrible. So thanks for being honest.

  22. It's so funny that you have those John Frieda products on here because I use both of them and like them! And I get compliments on the tone of my blonde all the time, even from random strangers, haha! But the other product I use that definitely beats those two and works wonders is Redken's Blonde Glam colour enhancer called Perfect Platinum. It is a really good toning conditioner :) If you're ever looking for one! <3

  23. Nice post Bree! An honest review! I used to use John Frieda for Straight hair a long time ago. But price-quality wise it just wasn't worth it. Expensive famous brand products don't always do the trick! ;)

  24. Bumble and bumble seems like such an unreliable brand, which is really frustrating to me. Some products people rave about and other products are just - no other word for it - terrible. It makes it so hard (for me, at least) to take a chance and try something of theirs on a whim, because I'd be so disappointed and annoyed to try it out and hate it. At least if you buy from Sephora, you can return it... But that's still a pain :P

    1. Yeah this product I have read rave reviews about so I was pretty disappointed. I don't think I'll be trying many of their other products just because they cost so much and if you don't like them it seems like such a waste!
