I am a little late on the whole “New Year” ball. I meant to sit down and write this over the holidays, but time just got away from me. Our holiday started off by going over to the beautiful Sunshine Coast for Christmas Eve, and heading back into the city late Christmas day. This was the first year that Jer and I have spent the holidays together, and it was such a lovely change. A busy change, but a lovely family-filled one!
When we got back from holidays I had my “New Years Eve” beauty week on my Youtube channel which was really exciting for me. I’ve so enjoyed curating video content and sharing it with you, and I am looking forward to it taking a larger role on my blog in 2017. If you’ve been liking it too than be sure to hop onto my channel to subscribe so that you won’t miss a video!
I don’t want to reflect a lot on this past year, because honestly it was just a really heartbreaking one. While there were some really exciting moments (friends getting engaged, and our incredible trip to France), I don’t think I’ll ever look at 2016 with anything but sadness.
I want to focus on 2017 and the exciting things that are lying ahead. This year many of our friends are getting married, I am so excited to be a bridesmaid for the first time, and I cannot believe that also this year Jeremy and I are getting married. It’s going to be a huge year full of love and big moments, and I am so excited to dive into it. Back in 2015 when we first got engaged, I thought that our 2 year engagement was going to drag by – and at times, I had really wished we had planned for a one year engagement rather than two. But, now that it’s so close, I am so happy with our decision to take our time with saving and planning. While planning a wedding is stressful regardless of how much time you give yourself, having a bit of extra time to decide and flip-flop, save, and try out DIYs has made it so we’ve been able to fine tune our wants vs. needs. I will share more on that though in a future post.
Also, in just a few short days we’re heading down to Sayulita for a little getaway. I don’t know about you, but I am pretty over this cold-snap we’ve been having in Vancouver, and I am looking forward to escaping it for a few days. The snow and chill was charming at first – but now that the holidays are over, I am ready for the snow to stop and to get back to normal! I went to Sayulita in November 2015 and absolutely loved it, and I am so looking forward to going back. This time I am going with a group of friends and Jeremy, and I can’t wait for us all to be on the beach soaking up the sun.
While I don’t have any resolutions for 2017 exactly, I do have some longterm goals that I am going to continue to work towards in 2017. They include:
- Getting healthier and stronger
- Growing my youtube channel, blog, and creating more unique content
- Travelling more
- Making yoga and calming exercises a larger part of my fitness schedule
While I love the idea of New Years Resolutions, I don’t always feel like they stick. So rather than look at one day and making it signify the jumpstart to everything I want to accomplish, I want to look at this entire year and set smaller goals to eventually reach my large goal. I have always felt that breaking down my goals into smaller goals helps me reach them, and feel like they are more attainable.
What are a few things you’re looking forward to in 2017? Do you have any goals, or resolutions?
