12 Charcuterie Board Ideas for Your Next Party

Reading Time: 2 minutes12 Charcuterie Board Ideas for Your Next Party Our weekends are pretty much always filled with seeing friends and family. And actually, a majority of the time those get-togethers are at our house.  Since moving, it’s been a lot of fun being able to entertain more. Long gone are the days of us and our friends all standing around our 1 bedroom apartment’s kitchen island that connected to our living room space. No shade to our old apartment, I loved it but it was small in comparison to our new home. Now we actually have a dining and living room where people can sit and relax. It’s a luxury I didn’t realize I would love so much.  12 Charcuterie Board Ideas for Your Next Party12 Charcuterie Board Ideas for Your Next Party But somethings never change – and just like our downtown apartment, in the summer our house gets HOT. While we one day plan to invest in central air conditioning – that just isn’t going to happen for this summer. For now, we just need to embrace the heat and learn how to work with it.  One major way I work with the heat is by making stove-and-oven-less meals. The stove and oven ramp up the temperature in our home and it’s simply not worth it. Especially when there are so many great cold meals that you can easily whip up.  12 Charcuterie Board Ideas for Your Next Party12 Charcuterie Board Ideas for Your Next Party Now imagine a super hot house then packed with people – cooking is just a huge no-no. It’s such a no-no for us that we’ve actually told friends and family to put a pause on bringing snacks for everyone that require being cooked in the oven.  Rather than cook when we have friends over, we instead simply put together a charcuterie board or two (always served up with my fave lavender lemonade recipe!). They are always a crowd-pleaser – I mean, who doesn’t love meat, cheese, and fruit right? Here are a few charcuterie board ideas to try out at your next party:

If you had told me 10 years ago that I would want If you had told me 10 years ago that I would want to spend all of my spare time off grid, in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by trees and mountains — I would’ve told you that you were crazy... But here we are 🤷‍♀️😂🌲💛 #WhereLifeLeads
“I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛 I s “I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛

I saw so many powerful messages today from people sharing their "why" — the reason behind why they were there and standing as one of the "fringe". Here's a few reasons that I saw and heard:

- Why? Because I want my child to grow seeing smiles and smiling
- Why? Because I miss my family and loved ones.
- Why? Because my lived experience tells me not to trust what is happening right now.
- Why? Because I believe in our informed consent principles.
- Why? Because I believe in choice without coercion.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my job as a healthcare worker.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my business.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my home.
- Why? Because I’ve been injured.
- Why? Because I think there’s a better way forward for everyone.
- Why? Because I chose what I knew was best for me and I want everyone else to be free to do that as well.

Everyone has a unique reason why, and it’s important to take a moment to recognize and acknowledge them. Now is the time. Let's come together and be united💛

I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the loss and illness that so many have experienced from C. It has been an extraordinarily hard two years for many, many people, for all sorts of different reasons and it is not my aim to diminish any of them. What I am trying to express is that we are at a breaking point societally.

If we continue to move forward with coercion, mandates, restrictions, and divisive passports based on fear (or a hope) then we risk setting precedents that we may not be comfortable leaning on in the future. We also risk dividing our society to such a degree that may make it difficult, if not impossible, to ever bring back together. Despite all of the debates, arguments, and comments made over the last few years, I do not believe that deep down Canadians want to live in a state of perpetual division.

If this is not the time to unite and end these mandates, when is? It is our systems that are broken, and they have been broken for a very long time. We all know this. Let's unite and fix them, and more together 💛

Creating our own peace ☮️

Nearing the end of 2021, one thing that Jer & I wanted to prioritize was creating our own peace. Life has been exhausting for the last long while and, like most people, our mental well-being suffered from the current state of Canada. We knew we needed to make some changes, add something to our lives to remove us (even temporarily, now and again) from the chaos that is now the “new normal”. So, we began making road trips around BC to find our very own home away from home. I feel immensely lucky to now have this remote sanctuary in our lives. It is somewhere we can go when life gets too overwhelming, somewhere we could live eventually if life continues to be overwhelming. In just the first few days here, I’ve already felt a shift in my mindset. I feel incredibly lucky to have this place and already it feels like home. 💖
✨Growing pains✨ . . . 2021, for many of us, w ✨Growing pains✨
. . .
2021, for many of us, was a year of growth. Some of it was painful, most of it inspiring, and all of it necessary. Sometimes growing means needing to shed the older versions of ourselves and sometimes that can be difficult or cause a loss in friendships or relationships. It can be challenging - believe me, I get it. But, anything or anyone who couldn't respect your growth then won't respect your future growth. While growth can be painful it is not nearly as painful as the dull consistent ache of feeling stuck.
