Fun Ways to Make Mondays Suck Less!

Fun Ways to Make Mondays Suck Less!
It’s Monday – and I can bet that almost all of you are struggling with a serious case of the Mondays. You’re sitting there with coffee in hand, reading over your daily blog rolls and are already thinking of ways to procrastinate doing your work. It’s hard getting back into the swing of things after having an awesome weekend, and it’s even worse when “the swing of things” entails an excel spreadsheet of work to do – boring!
I used to really struggle with the Monday blues, until one day I decided that I needed to begin to look at my start of the week a bit brighter, a bit more positive, and with a bit more enthusiasm. The thing is, Mondays are inevitable. They are always going to be here and dreading them will just bring you down. I didn’t get skip work and run off on a wild adventure or find a new job, I just added a few things to my daily life to make them a bit more fun. If you’re sick of the Monday blues then click through and read more on how to Make Mondays Suck Less!
Make Mondays Suck Less

Fun Ways to Make Mondays Suck Less!

1. Add in a Bit of Beauty to Your Work Life

One thing I always hate about going to the office is the boring stationary. Canary yellow post-its, canary yellow notepads,  and generic blue pens just don’t get me excited to work. Rather than “make do” with boring stationary, invest in your own. Shop the sales at chapters, invest in an adorable agenda, and scour Etsy for your perfect pen.

2. Make Mondays “Me” Days

I’m not afraid to say – I love me days. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – I am a total introvert and my alone time is the time that I really cherish. Many Mondays I schedule in as “me time” so I can sit down and blog, watch movies the fiancé would hate, do a face mask – and a hair mask at once (scary looking!), and refresh my manicure. Having these moments to myself allows me to look at my week ahead from a more refreshed and prepared perspective.

3. Indulge in Something Decadent

Sometimes Mondays just call for something decadent. I’m not saying to completely throw in the towel on your healthy diet, but occasionally treat yourself to something yummy. I recently skipped my usual coffee at home and went to Starbucks for a PSL and it was exactly what I needed to get me in a brighter mood.

4. Girls Night In

A long time ago, Mondays used to be my “girls night in” – and I loved them! As much of an introvert as I am, I also really do love my friendships and sometimes seeing them is exactly what my Monday needs. My girls nights in used to entail wine and Sex and the City, but you can always trade that in for tea and your favourite show. A few excellent shows to watch if you haven’t already are: Narcos, Dexter, & Making a Murderer.

5. Re-vamp your Work Wardrobe

It sounds silly, but I promise you – every so often having something new to wear to work can really help inspire you to look at Monday in a new light. Rather than it just being plain old Monday, instead it turns into an opportunity to style that new skirt you just snagged.

6. Work on Office Friendships

Nothing will make your work life & your Mondays more fun than having a friend at the office. Feeling isolated for hours can leave you feeling a bit… lonely. So, invest a bit of time getting to know your co-workers, have lunch together and build up your friendships.

If you had told me 10 years ago that I would want If you had told me 10 years ago that I would want to spend all of my spare time off grid, in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by trees and mountains — I would’ve told you that you were crazy... But here we are 🤷‍♀️😂🌲💛 #WhereLifeLeads
“I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛 I s “I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛

I saw so many powerful messages today from people sharing their "why" — the reason behind why they were there and standing as one of the "fringe". Here's a few reasons that I saw and heard:

- Why? Because I want my child to grow seeing smiles and smiling
- Why? Because I miss my family and loved ones.
- Why? Because my lived experience tells me not to trust what is happening right now.
- Why? Because I believe in our informed consent principles.
- Why? Because I believe in choice without coercion.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my job as a healthcare worker.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my business.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my home.
- Why? Because I’ve been injured.
- Why? Because I think there’s a better way forward for everyone.
- Why? Because I chose what I knew was best for me and I want everyone else to be free to do that as well.

Everyone has a unique reason why, and it’s important to take a moment to recognize and acknowledge them. Now is the time. Let's come together and be united💛

I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the loss and illness that so many have experienced from C. It has been an extraordinarily hard two years for many, many people, for all sorts of different reasons and it is not my aim to diminish any of them. What I am trying to express is that we are at a breaking point societally.

If we continue to move forward with coercion, mandates, restrictions, and divisive passports based on fear (or a hope) then we risk setting precedents that we may not be comfortable leaning on in the future. We also risk dividing our society to such a degree that may make it difficult, if not impossible, to ever bring back together. Despite all of the debates, arguments, and comments made over the last few years, I do not believe that deep down Canadians want to live in a state of perpetual division.

If this is not the time to unite and end these mandates, when is? It is our systems that are broken, and they have been broken for a very long time. We all know this. Let's unite and fix them, and more together 💛

Creating our own peace ☮️

Nearing the end of 2021, one thing that Jer & I wanted to prioritize was creating our own peace. Life has been exhausting for the last long while and, like most people, our mental well-being suffered from the current state of Canada. We knew we needed to make some changes, add something to our lives to remove us (even temporarily, now and again) from the chaos that is now the “new normal”. So, we began making road trips around BC to find our very own home away from home. I feel immensely lucky to now have this remote sanctuary in our lives. It is somewhere we can go when life gets too overwhelming, somewhere we could live eventually if life continues to be overwhelming. In just the first few days here, I’ve already felt a shift in my mindset. I feel incredibly lucky to have this place and already it feels like home. 💖
✨Growing pains✨ . . . 2021, for many of us, w ✨Growing pains✨
. . .
2021, for many of us, was a year of growth. Some of it was painful, most of it inspiring, and all of it necessary. Sometimes growing means needing to shed the older versions of ourselves and sometimes that can be difficult or cause a loss in friendships or relationships. It can be challenging - believe me, I get it. But, anything or anyone who couldn't respect your growth then won't respect your future growth. While growth can be painful it is not nearly as painful as the dull consistent ache of feeling stuck.
