outfit details: AEO printed boho mini dress, Target sandals, J.Crew Bracelet (no longer available) – love this J.Crew Bracelet
Whenever I go away on a tropical vacation, I always make sure to pack along a few items that have longer sleeves to cover up my shoulders. Oddly enough, the one place that always tends to burn (or get incredibly tanned) on me has always been my shoulders. I don’t know if everyone has that sunburn “spot” that just always seems to get burned, but both my brother and I do – he has his burned red nose, and I have my bright red shoulders. Maybe it’s just a family thing?
The first time I ever really scorched them was way back when I was about 10 and I did a road trip around the USA. I was in Phoenix, and a fun day at the pool quickly led to me tending to my brutally burned shoulder with heavy doses of Aloe Vera. I had burned my shoulders so badly that little white freckles appeared afterward and my doctor warned me that that was skin damage and to be extra careful in the future with my skin. So now I’m all about sunscreen, sunglasses, wide-brim hats, and protective styling – like longer sleeved shirts & dresses.
This AEO printed boho mini dress caught my immediately because not only did it have my “long sleeve requirement’, it also was just so adorable. Just like my AEO embroidered shift dress, this dress just had such an easy and laid-back fit that it was a total go-to while I was away in beautiful Cuba.
