During the summer season, you can almost always be sure to find me walking the sea wall, picnicking at a nearby park, hanging out at a funky patio bar, or stretched out on the warm sand at the beach. I love summer and everything to do with it, but I especially adore summer style & beauty.

For me, everything about my style & beauty lightens up in the summer months. I shed some layers (goodbye cardigans!) and allow my skin a beauty product breather.

My summer beauty essentials are really simple and basically come down to having healthy hair, glowing skin, and getting pretty pedicured feet with my favourite nail polish & my Amopé Pedi Perfect electronic foot file.

Rather than always going to a spa for a quick refresh, I find it really therapeutic (and less expensive!) to indulge myself in a full schedule of treatments at home.

It’s like the time, silence, and peacefulness not only preps me for all of those beach days, but also eases my mind and gives me a creative “reset”.

These spa days typically consist of me taking some time with my new Vichy skincare routine, clearing up my skin with a body scrub (like this DIY Coffee Body Scrub), and spending a bit of time getting my feet sandal-ready.

After winter, my feet are in some desperate need of TLC. I’ll be honest; I’m one of those girls who completely neglects caring for her feet during the cooler months. So, by the time summer swings around my feet are usually in pretty bad shape.

My Amopé foot file is one of my absolute essential items for getting my feet where they need to be for summer. It helps slough off any dead skin or calluses that have built up over the winter months to leave you with soft and smooth feet.

To complete my at-home spa day I always like to add a fresh coat of polish to my hands and toes. I personally like when my hands + feet match so I typically just choose one colour for both. Lately I’ve been really drawn to soft blush tones, rose gold metallics, and peach polishes.

Your feet look so nice. I have wondered about the different foot files. There is a few out there. Would you recommend this more then the others?

If you had told me 10 years ago that I would want If you had told me 10 years ago that I would want to spend all of my spare time off grid, in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by trees and mountains — I would’ve told you that you were crazy... But here we are 🤷‍♀️😂🌲💛 #WhereLifeLeads
“I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛 I s “I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛

I saw so many powerful messages today from people sharing their "why" — the reason behind why they were there and standing as one of the "fringe". Here's a few reasons that I saw and heard:

- Why? Because I want my child to grow seeing smiles and smiling
- Why? Because I miss my family and loved ones.
- Why? Because my lived experience tells me not to trust what is happening right now.
- Why? Because I believe in our informed consent principles.
- Why? Because I believe in choice without coercion.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my job as a healthcare worker.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my business.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my home.
- Why? Because I’ve been injured.
- Why? Because I think there’s a better way forward for everyone.
- Why? Because I chose what I knew was best for me and I want everyone else to be free to do that as well.

Everyone has a unique reason why, and it’s important to take a moment to recognize and acknowledge them. Now is the time. Let's come together and be united💛

I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the loss and illness that so many have experienced from C. It has been an extraordinarily hard two years for many, many people, for all sorts of different reasons and it is not my aim to diminish any of them. What I am trying to express is that we are at a breaking point societally.

If we continue to move forward with coercion, mandates, restrictions, and divisive passports based on fear (or a hope) then we risk setting precedents that we may not be comfortable leaning on in the future. We also risk dividing our society to such a degree that may make it difficult, if not impossible, to ever bring back together. Despite all of the debates, arguments, and comments made over the last few years, I do not believe that deep down Canadians want to live in a state of perpetual division.

If this is not the time to unite and end these mandates, when is? It is our systems that are broken, and they have been broken for a very long time. We all know this. Let's unite and fix them, and more together 💛

Creating our own peace ☮️

Nearing the end of 2021, one thing that Jer & I wanted to prioritize was creating our own peace. Life has been exhausting for the last long while and, like most people, our mental well-being suffered from the current state of Canada. We knew we needed to make some changes, add something to our lives to remove us (even temporarily, now and again) from the chaos that is now the “new normal”. So, we began making road trips around BC to find our very own home away from home. I feel immensely lucky to now have this remote sanctuary in our lives. It is somewhere we can go when life gets too overwhelming, somewhere we could live eventually if life continues to be overwhelming. In just the first few days here, I’ve already felt a shift in my mindset. I feel incredibly lucky to have this place and already it feels like home. 💖
✨Growing pains✨ . . . 2021, for many of us, w ✨Growing pains✨
. . .
2021, for many of us, was a year of growth. Some of it was painful, most of it inspiring, and all of it necessary. Sometimes growing means needing to shed the older versions of ourselves and sometimes that can be difficult or cause a loss in friendships or relationships. It can be challenging - believe me, I get it. But, anything or anyone who couldn't respect your growth then won't respect your future growth. While growth can be painful it is not nearly as painful as the dull consistent ache of feeling stuck.
