Lately, my skin has been somewhat combination / dry-prone. Typically, my skin is just dry-prone so I tend to go for skincare that aims to hydrate my skin, and makeup that adds a bit more glowiness / dewiness to my skin. Or makeup, like this cushion compact from Amorepacific, that is quite moisturizing.
I rarely go for purely matte makeup – in fact, the most “matte” foundations I wear are the Maybelline Super Stay or Too Faced Born this Way Foundation. While those say they are matte, I would say they have more of a soft satin-matte finish. Anything more matte than those just wouldn’t work on my skin.
Because I have dry skin, I’ve always really loved products that give a luminous finish. For example, I love the Nudestix Nudies All Over Face and VDL’s Jellystick Blush. I also tend to love cushion foundations, which is what we’re diving into more today.
“Blur the line between skin care and makeup. This versatile Color Control Cushion Compact perfects the complexion with weightless, buildable coverage, while potent Asian botanicals deeply hydrate, protect from free-radical damage, and brighten skin for a naturally flawless finish. Powerful broad-spectrum SPF 50+ defends against daily exposure to UVA and UVB rays without the typical white cast left from high sun protection content in other foundations. Housed in a convenient compact, this cushion is excellent for everyday use. Apply as the last step in your skincare regimen or on its own for instant perfection that is never messy or cakey.” – On Sephora.com
AMOREPACIFIC Cushion Compact Foundation Review
The AMOREPACIFIC Cushion Compact Foundation is what I would consider a foundation and a moisturizer all in one.
This is an extremely hydrating foundation and is absolutely perfect for dry skin types.
As someone who often has dry patches, I am always dealing with foundations that end up clinging to those drier spots and making them look more obvious – it’s very frustrating.
This foundation though is so hydrating that it truly just glides over those patches and actually helps moisturize them so that they won’t appear as obvious.
Ingredients
Phyllostachis Bambusoides Juice, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Peg-10 Dimethicone, Phenyl Trimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Alcohol, Arbutin, Lauryl Peg-9 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Acrylates/Ethylhexyl Acrylate/Dimethicone Methacrylate Copolymer, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Sodium Chloride, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Aluminium Hydroxide, Stearic Acid, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Lecithin, Isostearic Acid, Isopropyl Palmitate, Phenoxyethanol, Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate, Acrylates/Stearyl Acrylate/Dimethicone Methacrylate Copolymer, Dimethicone, Disodium Edta, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Ethylhexyglycerin, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Aqua/Water/Eau, Silica, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Camillia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Parfum/Fragrance, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides (CI 77492, CI 77491, CI77499)
For me, this is an excellent everyday wear foundation. It’s comfortable and lightweight formula is easy to wear for hours on end.
I tend to keep my foundation around the light-medium coverage level but this is a buildable coverage so if you need more you can absolutely get it.
This cushion foundation also has SPF 50 which is excellent (I’m all about that sun protection!), but it can mean that the foundation has a slightly more greasy feel.
On a very hot day, this foundation can feel a bit slick because of this, but during these cooler fall days, I’ve honestly found no issue with the SPF. It’s just felt smooth and hydrating.
