I feel like so often here on the UU I am talking about my weekend, but the fact is, my life really takes flight on the weekends. During the weekdays, I live in a haze of 5AM wake-ups, daily workouts, and rushed dinners. Sometimes, by the time Friday comes around, I almost can’t believe how quickly the week has zipped by. Last week was one of those weeks, especially after the Easter Long weekend – time just flew by, and suddenly it was Friday.
If you’ve been reading along here on the UU for a while, than you may already know that I made the painful (really, heartbreaking) choice to break-up with coffee… Well, break-up with coffee during the weekdays, and get back together on the weekends. Yes, I have a caffeine love affair that starts each Friday, and ends each Sunday.

Now that I view my coffee more as a treat than a staple, I find that I like to try new types and make it more of a special thing than just a simple cup of coffee. Nomad Coffee heard about my weekend treat and loved the idea so much that they offered to send me a few of their favourite coffees to try.

So come Saturday morning, I decided to un-wrap my Nomad Coffee package to give Pig Iron Coffee a whirl – and let’s just say that both Jer & myself are officially obsessed. Pig Iron Coffee is a Canadian based company in Mississauga with three unique blends currently- the Steel Wheel Espresso, Decaf Wolf, and the Ethiopia Borana; their coffee changes seasonally though so these three blends won’t be available permanently. We received the Ethiopia Borana and loved it’s incredibly rich, and decadent taste.

What I love about Nomad is their subscription plan which allows you to have new, unique, and delicious beans sent to you monthly. I love being able to wake up on a Saturday to try a new delicious coffee, and Jeremy was excited that he could switch up his daily coffee with something a little more bold and luxurious. The beans they send are all from independent Canadian roasters, and Nomad themselves are a Canadian company – go Canada go!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog the other day. Although I'm not a coffee drinker myself, I love how you decided to turn coffee into a treat. I wish I could do the same with sweets 😀

If you had told me 10 years ago that I would want If you had told me 10 years ago that I would want to spend all of my spare time off grid, in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by trees and mountains — I would’ve told you that you were crazy... But here we are 🤷‍♀️😂🌲💛 #WhereLifeLeads
“I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛 I s “I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛

I saw so many powerful messages today from people sharing their "why" — the reason behind why they were there and standing as one of the "fringe". Here's a few reasons that I saw and heard:

- Why? Because I want my child to grow seeing smiles and smiling
- Why? Because I miss my family and loved ones.
- Why? Because my lived experience tells me not to trust what is happening right now.
- Why? Because I believe in our informed consent principles.
- Why? Because I believe in choice without coercion.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my job as a healthcare worker.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my business.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my home.
- Why? Because I’ve been injured.
- Why? Because I think there’s a better way forward for everyone.
- Why? Because I chose what I knew was best for me and I want everyone else to be free to do that as well.

Everyone has a unique reason why, and it’s important to take a moment to recognize and acknowledge them. Now is the time. Let's come together and be united💛

I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the loss and illness that so many have experienced from C. It has been an extraordinarily hard two years for many, many people, for all sorts of different reasons and it is not my aim to diminish any of them. What I am trying to express is that we are at a breaking point societally.

If we continue to move forward with coercion, mandates, restrictions, and divisive passports based on fear (or a hope) then we risk setting precedents that we may not be comfortable leaning on in the future. We also risk dividing our society to such a degree that may make it difficult, if not impossible, to ever bring back together. Despite all of the debates, arguments, and comments made over the last few years, I do not believe that deep down Canadians want to live in a state of perpetual division.

If this is not the time to unite and end these mandates, when is? It is our systems that are broken, and they have been broken for a very long time. We all know this. Let's unite and fix them, and more together 💛

Creating our own peace ☮️

Nearing the end of 2021, one thing that Jer & I wanted to prioritize was creating our own peace. Life has been exhausting for the last long while and, like most people, our mental well-being suffered from the current state of Canada. We knew we needed to make some changes, add something to our lives to remove us (even temporarily, now and again) from the chaos that is now the “new normal”. So, we began making road trips around BC to find our very own home away from home. I feel immensely lucky to now have this remote sanctuary in our lives. It is somewhere we can go when life gets too overwhelming, somewhere we could live eventually if life continues to be overwhelming. In just the first few days here, I’ve already felt a shift in my mindset. I feel incredibly lucky to have this place and already it feels like home. 💖
✨Growing pains✨ . . . 2021, for many of us, w ✨Growing pains✨
. . .
2021, for many of us, was a year of growth. Some of it was painful, most of it inspiring, and all of it necessary. Sometimes growing means needing to shed the older versions of ourselves and sometimes that can be difficult or cause a loss in friendships or relationships. It can be challenging - believe me, I get it. But, anything or anyone who couldn't respect your growth then won't respect your future growth. While growth can be painful it is not nearly as painful as the dull consistent ache of feeling stuck.
