Back in October, I turned 26 and I had a moment with my skincare – specifically, my preventative anti-aging skincare routine. I have always taken good care of my skin, but I feel like I am approaching the age where acne treatments aren’t the only thing I need to consider. Now, I also need to think about how to keep my skin looking youthful, vibrant, and glowing.

When it comes to anti-aging treatments, I am a bit of a newb. I’ve never had a facial at the spa or invested in any other sort of anti-aging treatment. But, this year that’s all changing. I received the Silk’n FaceFX a few months ago and began using it regularly.

Silk’n FaceFX Review

The Silk’n FaceFX device is like bringing the spa home as it used fractional technology, red light technology, and deep tissue heating to provide fast and long-term skin rejuvenation. This technology encourages collagen production which is what keeps our skin looking youthful and healthy.

After just my first treatment with the Silk’n FaceFX device, I noticed that my pores appeared smaller (particularly the ones around my nose) and that my skin overall looked brighter and healthier. While I don’t have many wrinkles on my forehead, I did notice that some of the finer lines that I have there virtually disappeared after I used my Silk’n FaceFX device. The main spots I’ve been focusing my Silk’n FaceFX device has been around my eyes and on the “crows feet” area. My eyes have long been my problem spot, and when it comes to aging, I have noticed a few extra unwanted lines around my eyes over the last year or two. Using this device, I’ve found that my eyes look much more awake and bright, and some of the finer lines I’ve noticed have completely gone away. It’s been very exciting to see.

When you put the applicator to your skin, you’ll see a bright red light and then feel the applicator begin to heat up. There is a built-in skin temperature sensor to ensure the device does not exceed 41°C / 106°F so you don’t have to worry about it overheating or burning your skin. If you ever have any questions or concerns you can always contact the lovely people at Silk’n for help!

The entire treatment process is 5-7 minutes, which really isn’t long at all considering the dramatic results you get. You only want to do this treatment 3 times a week for the first four weeks, and then after that, you can use the device once monthly to maintain your results. **When you use this device on your eyes, you want to split the time you use the device up for each eye! So, you want to use this device for approximately 2 and a half minutes on each eye.

Overall I’ve noticed since using this that my pores look smaller, my skin looks smoother, and it appears more glowy and bright. It is a really relaxing treatment, and it really does feel like you have a mini-spa right in the comfort of your home. During the first month using this treatment, I used it as directed 3 times weekly. Since then, I have used it once a month. I typically try to schedule it a few days before I have a big event so that my skin looks it’s best and most glowing for those special occasions.

“I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛 I s “I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛

I saw so many powerful messages today from people sharing their "why" — the reason behind why they were there and standing as one of the "fringe". Here's a few reasons that I saw and heard:

- Why? Because I want my child to grow seeing smiles and smiling
- Why? Because I miss my family and loved ones.
- Why? Because my lived experience tells me not to trust what is happening right now.
- Why? Because I believe in our informed consent principles.
- Why? Because I believe in choice without coercion.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my job as a healthcare worker.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my business.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my home.
- Why? Because I’ve been injured.
- Why? Because I think there’s a better way forward for everyone.
- Why? Because I chose what I knew was best for me and I want everyone else to be free to do that as well.

Everyone has a unique reason why, and it’s important to take a moment to recognize and acknowledge them. Now is the time. Let's come together and be united💛

I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the loss and illness that so many have experienced from C. It has been an extraordinarily hard two years for many, many people, for all sorts of different reasons and it is not my aim to diminish any of them. What I am trying to express is that we are at a breaking point societally.

If we continue to move forward with coercion, mandates, restrictions, and divisive passports based on fear (or a hope) then we risk setting precedents that we may not be comfortable leaning on in the future. We also risk dividing our society to such a degree that may make it difficult, if not impossible, to ever bring back together. Despite all of the debates, arguments, and comments made over the last few years, I do not believe that deep down Canadians want to live in a state of perpetual division.

If this is not the time to unite and end these mandates, when is? It is our systems that are broken, and they have been broken for a very long time. We all know this. Let's unite and fix them, and more together 💛

Creating our own peace ☮️

Nearing the end of 2021, one thing that Jer & I wanted to prioritize was creating our own peace. Life has been exhausting for the last long while and, like most people, our mental well-being suffered from the current state of Canada. We knew we needed to make some changes, add something to our lives to remove us (even temporarily, now and again) from the chaos that is now the “new normal”. So, we began making road trips around BC to find our very own home away from home. I feel immensely lucky to now have this remote sanctuary in our lives. It is somewhere we can go when life gets too overwhelming, somewhere we could live eventually if life continues to be overwhelming. In just the first few days here, I’ve already felt a shift in my mindset. I feel incredibly lucky to have this place and already it feels like home. 💖
✨Growing pains✨ . . . 2021, for many of us, w ✨Growing pains✨
. . .
2021, for many of us, was a year of growth. Some of it was painful, most of it inspiring, and all of it necessary. Sometimes growing means needing to shed the older versions of ourselves and sometimes that can be difficult or cause a loss in friendships or relationships. It can be challenging - believe me, I get it. But, anything or anyone who couldn't respect your growth then won't respect your future growth. While growth can be painful it is not nearly as painful as the dull consistent ache of feeling stuck.
