Whenever the seasons change, my skin decides to freak out a little bit. Sometimes it swings in the direction of being super dry, sometimes it gets oily, and sometimes it gets a little zitty. Right now, I’ve been finding myself dealing with an annoying and unusual blend of blemishes and dry patches.
Over the last few weeks though, I’ve been targeting my blemishes with the Alba Botanica AcneDote line. This line specifically targets acne which makes it an excellent go-to for those of us who get blemishes.
I love using this line in conjunction with my current nighttime skincare routine – which is coming soon to the blog, I promise! The Alba Botanica® Acnedote Face & Body Scrub is great for daily use to help keep blemishes at bay, while the Clearing Gel Peel you only use weekly, and the Pimple Patches are great for targeting emerging or current blemishes.
Alright, let’s dive in deeper to each of these products!
Alba Botanica Acnedote Review
Alba Botanica Face & Body Scrub
The first product I want to dive a little deeper into is the Alba Botanica Face & Body Scrub – because I am seriously so excited about this product.
Whenever I’ve used a scrub for my body, it’s typically just to exfoliate my skin to rid it of any dead and unwanted skin cells.
But, the Alba Botanica Acnedote scrub also targets body acne: and that my friends, is MAJOR.
For years, I’ve battled acne / small bumps on my legs, specifically on the back of my thighs, which are from shaving.
Shaving can irritate the skin and cause what’s called “folliculitis” (or, razor burn) which can look like small red bumps or dots, or even like zits.
It’s super common, it’s super annoying, and there aren’t many products on the market that help target that issue. Since using this scrub, I’ve found it’s really helped soothe my skin and reduce the look of red bumps on my legs. I’m thrilled.
This scrub has Salicylic Acid it helps target blemishes and keeps them at bay. In addition, it also has Willow Bark Extract (which has anti-inflammatory properties) and ground Walnut shell.
As a facial scrub, this product is lovely. It gently removes dead skin cells, reduces the look of spots, and prevents future blemishes.
Over the last few weeks, this line has really helped keep my skin looking it’s best which I am so happy about since this is the time of year when my skin typically yo-yos a bit.
Alba Botanica Clearing Gel Peel
The Alba Botanica Clearing Gel Peel was the product I was most excited to try out from this line. I love skin treatments – especially ones like this that you know really pack a punch since you’re only intended to use it once weekly.
When you apply the Alba Botanica® Clearing Gel Peel, you want to apply a pretty generous amount all over your face. Depending on your acne, you’ll want to leave this product on from 1-5 minutes.
I typically have been leaving it on for about 2-3 minutes because I do not want to over-treat my skin as it is quite sensitive and dry-prone.
This dermatologist-tested award-winning product feels quite cooling as it is a thin gel texture and it does cause a slight tingling sensation on the skin. Like all Alba Botanica products, the alba clear gel acne peel is botanically-based and 100% vegetarian.
The Alba Botanica Clearing Gel Peel is made with fruit acids and 1% Salicylic Acid which helps to dry out current blemishes and prevent new ones from occurring. I love how easy this product is to use and how effective it has been to clear up blemishes.
Alba Botanica Acnedote Pimple Patches
Often when I get blemishes, I get the annoying under-the-skin kind that you can really feel slowly come to the surface. They are painful and uncomfortable.
Whenever I feel one coming on, I like to pop on one of Alba Botanica Acnedote Pimple Patches to help prevent it from making a full appearance.
These patches work wonders to help prevent zits, and they also help reduce the redness and inflammation of zits if they have popped up.
These are also super convenient to use when you don’t feel like wearing a full mask to target your blemishes. You can easily pop one of these on, go to sleep, and let it work it’s magic overnight.
