I never want to be one of those people who always say “I’m SO busy”, but sometimes it certainly feels that way. Thankfully, I would always rather be busy than bored so it actually works in my favor.
While my daytime job sometimes has some serious lulls, once I am home I am go go go every day. I am always writing my blog (which I totally love) or excitedly or brainstorming new ideas. Even my weekends seem to be filled up with exciting projects that I truly look forward to working on. In fact, if you follow me on IG then you likely already saw this look on Saturday and heard about how I spent the majority of my day blogging!
Blogging may not technically be my full-time job right now, it is something that is on my mind constantly and keeps me working on new posts + brainstorming ideas around the clock. Since I just went back to full-time hours at my office job, now more than ever I need a few key things to keep my mind + blog on track. Click through to find out more on how I get my life in order and the pieces that help me achieve organization!
How to Be More Organized
SCHEDULED WORK SESSIONS:
While sometimes I work spontaneously when I have free time, I also like the schedule in my work hours. I have found scheduling out times to focus and work allows me to be more efficient during those hours spent writing and editing. I’ve also found that this helps make my free time more like “brainstorm time” so I can avoid creative blocks.
I can organize everything in perfect order in my mind – but if I don’t have a great pair of glasses then I won’t be able to get anything done anyways! I wear glasses every single day to work, and they are absolutely essential when I am looking at a computer screen; so having a pair that are comfortable to wear throughout the day is really important to me.
I absolutely fell in love with these nude-frame Clearly glasses. They are completely unlike any glasses I’ve ever had and they have been so fun to add to my daily style. I love the colour, the adorable heart cut-outs on the arms, and am absolutely thrilled with the quality of them.
Nothing keeps my social media outreach on track quite like Hootsuite. I can’t always be on Twitter and Facebook, so I like to pre-schedule some of my posts using Hootsuite. I like to schedule a week’s worth of content-sharing posts all on one day so that I don’t feel like I am constantly juggling tasks for my blog. Typically, I schedule about 3 posts per day and try to dedicate two of those social media posts to my older content so that my older content continues to receive exposure.
USE A PLANNER:
Remember way back in elementary school & high-school how we always used to get free planners? Well, I may have been the only kid who actually used those planners – and I still require one to this very day. Unlike many who simply schedule their lives out on their phones, I just cannot seem to organize myself in this way. I need to physically write down my plans and check my planner each day to fully grasp what my schedule is going to be like. As much as I love the online world, there are just certain things I need to keep old-school in order for my life to have.. well, order.
For each month, I like to keep a “blog calendar”. Basically, what this is is just a theme for that specific month which helps me avoid creative blocks. There’s nothing that throws off my organization and schedule like an un-wanted creative block so I try my best to avoid them by providing myself with the tools to continue brainstorming. For example, August is all about getting organized + ready for school, September will be all about gearing up for fall weather, and October will be focused on Halloween and dramatic fall style + beauty.
