DIY Bath Bombs

The holidays always are a time of year that re-ignite my love for DIY projects.  While I love shopping and finding the perfect gift, I also really love making gifts for my friends and families. Sometimes, I’ll bake up some holiday treats, like my favourite Chocolate Kiss Peanut Butter cookies, and other times I’ll get a little creative with my crafts.    Bath Bombs DIY Project Easy DIY Projects   This year I knew that I wanted to make some holiday bath bombs.  After a long week at work, there’s really nothing like unwinding with a super cozy and relaxing bath. Adding in a bath bomb just steps up the coziness of having a bath. It’s like a treat at the end of a tough week.  During this time of year, I love minty scents. Give me all the peppermint and eucalyptus you got!    Lavender Bath Bombs Eucalyptus Bath BombsMint Bath bomb DIY

So how do you make these bath bombs?

Making these bath bombs is SO easy. You simply combine all the ingredients, mix them together well, and then pack them into the cookie cutter shape or muffin tin to create their form.  Following that, you bake them on a super low heat in the oven just to speed up the drying process.    Bath Bomb DIY | Make Bath Bombs without Citric Acid Quick DIY ProjectsEasy DIY Gifts

What ingredients do you need?

You will need coconut oil, baking soda, lemon juice, essential oils, and food colouring.

You can also add in sprinkles, glitter, whatever you like!   Homemade Gift Ideas Homemade Gifts

How long does it take?

This really only takes about 5 minutes to make, and then about 30-40 minutes to bake in the oven.    Homemade Christmas Gifts Homemade Xmas Gifts

What essential oils did you use?

I used lavender, mint, and eucalyptus in my bath bombs. Some batches I just use one or the other, or sometimes I mix the essential oils. You can use whichever you like best! I often either purchaseCalia Essential Oils, or Saje Essential Oils.    Bath Bomb DIY | Make Bath Bombs without Citric Acid How to Make Bath Bombs without Citric Acid

What kinds of oils can you use?

I used coconut oil in this recipe, but you can really use any oil you’d like.    Easy DIY Projects Bath DIY Projects

These homemade DIY bath bombs are a great and affordable last minute gift idea! They are easy to make, and I mean – who doesn’t love having a bath? Give the gift of relaxation and self care with these beautiful and easy DIY bath bombs.

Ingredients:

1 Cup of baking soda 5 Tablespoons of lemon juice  2 Tablespoons of coconut oil 20 drops of essential oils Decorations / food colouring

Tools:

Mixing Bowl Spoon Muffin tray / Cookie molds Directions: Preheat your oven to 180 degrees.

Directions:

Begin by placing your baking soda into a large mixing bowl.  Then pour in the coconut oil (melted) and mix immediately. This will clump quickly so you want to ensure you begin mixing fast so you can coat the baking soda with the oil. You may want to use your hands to mix this more. Then, add the lemon juice. You’ll want to add the lemon juice gradually as you continue mixing.  Now add your essential oils and mix again.   At this point, you can begin adding any decorations or food colouring you’d like in the bath bombs. **Save some decorations to place on top of your bath bombs at the end.  Once you’re happy with your bath bomb mixture, begin scooping the mixture into your muffin tray or in your cookie cutter shapes.  *Note: if your cookie cutters are metal/rigid, you may find it hard to remove your bath bombs. Now, it’s time to dry your bath bombs. You can either allow them to dry out on their own over 24-48 hours, or you can place them in the oven on low heat (180 degrees) for 1-3 hours. If you choose to place them in the oven, check them occasionally to ensure they haven’t dried too much and begin cracking. **DO NOT place rubber or plastic molds into the oven. Only metal/cooking pans.     Did you enjoy today’s post? If so, check these out next!  DIY Christmas Cone Trees The Ultimate Holiday Turkey Recipe Apple Cranberry Crumble Recipe

I’m not sure if it would – I would think so, but rather than skip the lemon juice step entirely I would recommend using a replacement like white vinegar.

I used a standard muffin tin and made six. I do not fill them completely though!

“I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛 I s “I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛

I saw so many powerful messages today from people sharing their "why" — the reason behind why they were there and standing as one of the "fringe". Here's a few reasons that I saw and heard:

- Why? Because I want my child to grow seeing smiles and smiling
- Why? Because I miss my family and loved ones.
- Why? Because my lived experience tells me not to trust what is happening right now.
- Why? Because I believe in our informed consent principles.
- Why? Because I believe in choice without coercion.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my job as a healthcare worker.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my business.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my home.
- Why? Because I’ve been injured.
- Why? Because I think there’s a better way forward for everyone.
- Why? Because I chose what I knew was best for me and I want everyone else to be free to do that as well.

Everyone has a unique reason why, and it’s important to take a moment to recognize and acknowledge them. Now is the time. Let's come together and be united💛

I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the loss and illness that so many have experienced from C. It has been an extraordinarily hard two years for many, many people, for all sorts of different reasons and it is not my aim to diminish any of them. What I am trying to express is that we are at a breaking point societally.

If we continue to move forward with coercion, mandates, restrictions, and divisive passports based on fear (or a hope) then we risk setting precedents that we may not be comfortable leaning on in the future. We also risk dividing our society to such a degree that may make it difficult, if not impossible, to ever bring back together. Despite all of the debates, arguments, and comments made over the last few years, I do not believe that deep down Canadians want to live in a state of perpetual division.

If this is not the time to unite and end these mandates, when is? It is our systems that are broken, and they have been broken for a very long time. We all know this. Let's unite and fix them, and more together 💛

Creating our own peace ☮️

Nearing the end of 2021, one thing that Jer & I wanted to prioritize was creating our own peace. Life has been exhausting for the last long while and, like most people, our mental well-being suffered from the current state of Canada. We knew we needed to make some changes, add something to our lives to remove us (even temporarily, now and again) from the chaos that is now the “new normal”. So, we began making road trips around BC to find our very own home away from home. I feel immensely lucky to now have this remote sanctuary in our lives. It is somewhere we can go when life gets too overwhelming, somewhere we could live eventually if life continues to be overwhelming. In just the first few days here, I’ve already felt a shift in my mindset. I feel incredibly lucky to have this place and already it feels like home. 💖
✨Growing pains✨ . . . 2021, for many of us, w ✨Growing pains✨
. . .
2021, for many of us, was a year of growth. Some of it was painful, most of it inspiring, and all of it necessary. Sometimes growing means needing to shed the older versions of ourselves and sometimes that can be difficult or cause a loss in friendships or relationships. It can be challenging - believe me, I get it. But, anything or anyone who couldn't respect your growth then won't respect your future growth. While growth can be painful it is not nearly as painful as the dull consistent ache of feeling stuck.
