Lush Bubble-gum Lip Scrub / Fresh Sugar Lip Polish

With Valentine’s Day only a few short days away,  it’s time to get that pucker in order! There’s nothing more frustrating (and painful!) then having dry, cracked lips.

Ever since I can remember, I’ve battled dry lips – and there’s nothing more uncomfortable than trying to smile and being shocked by the sharp pain of dry skin cracking. On top of the discomfort brought on by dry lips, they also just don’t look so great; so, today I am sharing my at-home remedies to dry lips so you’ll never have to worry about them again!

How to Fix Dry Lips:

1. Lip Scrub

First you’re going to want to either buy or make a lip scrub. I have two, one from Fresh Beauty and one from Lush and I’d recommend them both. The Fresh Lip Polish is a much oilier base than the Lush scrub. It gently sloughs away dead skin and leaves your lips feeling moisturized.

Though, you definitely don’t want to accidentally get any of this scrub in your mouth – it doesn’t taste too great!  The opposite goes for the Lush Bubblegum Scrub as it literally tastes and smells like bubblegum flavoured sugar. It isn’t an oil based scrub at all, instead its texture is much more like sugar so you’ll definitely want to follow up with a moisturizing treatment after using this scrub.

*If you don’t have the funds to buy a lip scrub, don’t worry – it’s something you can also easily make at home. Simply combine a little oil with sugar to create a scrub-like consistency.

Rub the scrub over your lips but be sure to do this lightly, you don’t want to further dry out and crack your lips. You just want to slough off any of the dead icky skin. When you feel you’ve removed the dead skin cells, rinse the scrub off using a warm towel.

2. Invest in a treatment lip-balm.

My two favourites are Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment Advanced Therapy balm & Kiehl’s Scented Lip Balm in Mango.. They are both very moisturizing and help to cure dryness.

** EXTRA TIP: When my lips are super dry, I turn to coconut oil. Coconut Oil is key in keeping your lips moisturized after you’ve scrubbed them clean.

Rather than put on your favourite lip-balm, opt for oil. Lip-balms often have ingredients that actually can dry out your skin so before going back to your favourite balm you’ll want to prime your lips with something a little more natural.

** You can use any oil you like (Olive, Avocado, Grape-seed, etc), I just prefer coconut oil for hair and skin treatments.

Great tips. My lips are always dry. Do you do in evening or am usually?

Typically in the evening because I like to really load up on the lip-balm and make it kind of an "overnight" treatment, but you could really do this whenever!

Bree, I am going to try to make a sugar and oil lip scrub… I had heard about one with honey but I think the oil one would work better leaving a little moisture… xox

I had terribly dry lips this year- I think it was because of my new job (different air environment, talking a lot…). I did a diy scrub with sugar and olive oil, finishing it off with Vaseline, but your solutions sound a lot less messy and a lot prettier 🙂

Oh this sounds yummy! I'm always trying to find the most natural ways to get rid of dry lips. I've been totally digging coconut butter lately. I've always used it, but not that much on the lips! If anything else doesn't work, try that :).

    Kisses,
    Lucia

Single-use items are used for a short time, but they have a lasting impact on our environment. I believe nature is sacred and we need to cherish it, support it, and respect it. That’s why when I go on a hike I always make sure to bring my reusable water bottle.

Carrying a reusable water bottle is a simple Superhabit that you can implement anywhere you go! So this summer stay hydrated and stay environmentally responsible with a reusable water bottle! #WhatsYourSuperhabit

“I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛 I s “I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛

I saw so many powerful messages today from people sharing their "why" — the reason behind why they were there and standing as one of the "fringe". Here's a few reasons that I saw and heard:

- Why? Because I want my child to grow seeing smiles and smiling
- Why? Because I miss my family and loved ones.
- Why? Because my lived experience tells me not to trust what is happening right now.
- Why? Because I believe in our informed consent principles.
- Why? Because I believe in choice without coercion.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my job as a healthcare worker.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my business.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my home.
- Why? Because I’ve been injured.
- Why? Because I think there’s a better way forward for everyone.
- Why? Because I chose what I knew was best for me and I want everyone else to be free to do that as well.

Everyone has a unique reason why, and it’s important to take a moment to recognize and acknowledge them. Now is the time. Let's come together and be united💛
