Embellished Clothing | How Little Details Make ALL the Difference

Reading Time: 3 minutes

I always find Vancouver’s weather so manic, one day it’s terribly cold & snowing and the next it’s warm enough to be walking around outside without feeling the slightest chill. Last Thursday was my dad’s birthday. For family birthdays, we usually just have dinner at their house, hang out, and have some cake – but this year we decided to switch it up and go out. And, since we were going out for a nice dinner, I decided to dress up with something that had a bit of sparkle.

Why I LOVE Embellished Basics

Pieces that mix classic style with glamorous embellishment are always pieces I am drawn to adding into my wardrobe.   Since basic pieces like t-shirts, jeans, and simple dresses tend to be my go-to, I like when they have something that sets them apart. This white blouse is pretty simple, but the embellished neckline makes it a bit more unique and special.

These sorts of pieces also really dress up an outfit. The sparkly addition to it really elevates the overall look of it, and makes it a great choice for occasions when you want to look a bit fancier while still feeling comfortable.

outfit details: jacket from Guess, shirt from RW&Co, jeans from GAP, heels from Aldo, bag from Betsey Johnson

It’s all in the Details.
Really, what makes a simple t-shirt, sweater, dress – whatever it is – special are the little details.  If you’re not a fan of sparkly necklines or gems, then try a t-shirt with ruching on the sleeves. There are so many options and pieces out there to choose from to make your style look more curated and fun.      Like this post? If you had told me 10 years ago that I would want If you had told me 10 years ago that I would want to spend all of my spare time off grid, in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by trees and mountains — I would’ve told you that you were crazy... But here we are 🤷‍♀️😂🌲💛 #WhereLifeLeads
“I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛 I s “I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛

I saw so many powerful messages today from people sharing their "why" — the reason behind why they were there and standing as one of the "fringe". Here's a few reasons that I saw and heard:

- Why? Because I want my child to grow seeing smiles and smiling
- Why? Because I miss my family and loved ones.
- Why? Because my lived experience tells me not to trust what is happening right now.
- Why? Because I believe in our informed consent principles.
- Why? Because I believe in choice without coercion.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my job as a healthcare worker.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my business.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my home.
- Why? Because I’ve been injured.
- Why? Because I think there’s a better way forward for everyone.
- Why? Because I chose what I knew was best for me and I want everyone else to be free to do that as well.

Everyone has a unique reason why, and it’s important to take a moment to recognize and acknowledge them. Now is the time. Let's come together and be united💛

I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the loss and illness that so many have experienced from C. It has been an extraordinarily hard two years for many, many people, for all sorts of different reasons and it is not my aim to diminish any of them. What I am trying to express is that we are at a breaking point societally.

If we continue to move forward with coercion, mandates, restrictions, and divisive passports based on fear (or a hope) then we risk setting precedents that we may not be comfortable leaning on in the future. We also risk dividing our society to such a degree that may make it difficult, if not impossible, to ever bring back together. Despite all of the debates, arguments, and comments made over the last few years, I do not believe that deep down Canadians want to live in a state of perpetual division.

If this is not the time to unite and end these mandates, when is? It is our systems that are broken, and they have been broken for a very long time. We all know this. Let's unite and fix them, and more together 💛

Creating our own peace ☮️

Nearing the end of 2021, one thing that Jer & I wanted to prioritize was creating our own peace. Life has been exhausting for the last long while and, like most people, our mental well-being suffered from the current state of Canada. We knew we needed to make some changes, add something to our lives to remove us (even temporarily, now and again) from the chaos that is now the “new normal”. So, we began making road trips around BC to find our very own home away from home. I feel immensely lucky to now have this remote sanctuary in our lives. It is somewhere we can go when life gets too overwhelming, somewhere we could live eventually if life continues to be overwhelming. In just the first few days here, I’ve already felt a shift in my mindset. I feel incredibly lucky to have this place and already it feels like home. 💖
✨Growing pains✨ . . . 2021, for many of us, w ✨Growing pains✨
. . .
2021, for many of us, was a year of growth. Some of it was painful, most of it inspiring, and all of it necessary. Sometimes growing means needing to shed the older versions of ourselves and sometimes that can be difficult or cause a loss in friendships or relationships. It can be challenging - believe me, I get it. But, anything or anyone who couldn't respect your growth then won't respect your future growth. While growth can be painful it is not nearly as painful as the dull consistent ache of feeling stuck.
