In the summer, going out for a date night with your significant other is easy and effortless. You simply throw on a pretty sundress, a cute pair of sandals, a stylish pair of shades, and can walk out the door. In the fall & winter seasons, your outfit takes a little bit more thought. The cold weather means we all need to think of layering. In my books, layering typically entails cozying up in oversized sweaters, leather leggings, blanket scarves, and boots – but for a date night out with my fiancé, I like to go for a more streamlined and sophisticated approach.
Fall Date Night Outfit
Grab a Long Sleeved Dress
If there’s one thing I can’t understand it’s when I see people walking around in t-shirts and tank tops in the dead of fall and winter! I get cold quite easily so I never joke around with my layers and clothing during these colder months. Long sleeve dresses like this V-Neck Tulip Dress from Dynamite Clothing, become my go-to during the fall and winter because they offer a bit more coziness than an average dress does.<
Invest in a Cute UmbrellaThere’s nothing more essential living here in Vancouver than a good sturdy umbrella. It rains here constantly during the fall and winter and if you want to avoid the whole “drowned rat” look – owning an umbrella is pretty imperative! This clear umbrella keeps me dry while also adding a pretty style element to my look.
Mix in some Autumn Colours
Create a soft and romantic autumnal palette by mixing in pieces in fall tones like burgundy, mustard yellow, and navy.
I added on a pair of burgundy heels to make this look a bit more “fall-inspired” and later on I threw on a heavy mustard tone knit scarf. Look at your layering pieces as a great way to add in colours that will create a more special look.
