FARMACY Honeymoon Glow Resurfacing Night Serum Skincare Review

The fall and winter are hard on my skin. I always go through this yo-yo of needing to try new products to help my skin adjust to the new weather. My skin tends to look very dull and dry (and sometimes, blemish-prone) during these months and so, I like to find products that will help bring my skin back to life.   FARMACY Honeymoon Glow AHA Resurfacing Night Serum

Using acids in your skincare routine may seem scary – but I assure you, its not! Acids are actually pretty crucial in your skincare, especially as you get older and notice more fine lines and wrinkles.  They do the “dirty work” of skincare – you know, they shrink pores, smooth fine lines, and exfoliate.   FARMACY Honeymoon Glow AHA Resurfacing Night SerumFARMACY Honeymoon Glow AHA Resurfacing Night Serum

Which Acids are in FARMACY Honeymoon Glow AHA Resurfacing Night Serum?

The FARMACY Honeymoon Glow AHA Resurfacing Night Serum has 14% acid – 10% AHA, 1% BHA, and 3% Flower Acids. It also has Honey and Hyaluronic acid. Here’s the full breakdown of these components: Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA): Helps fight free radical damage, signs of aging, and helps to resurface the skin.

– Lactic acid: Sensitive skin, anti-aging, restoring suppleness

– Glycolic acid: Anti-aging, dull skin, hyperpigmentation, blemishes

– Citric acid  Fighting free radical damage, signs of aging

Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA):  Targets oily, acne-prone skin, and refines pores

– Salicylic acid (from Willowbark): Targets oily and/or acne-prone skin

  OTHER:

– Flower acids from Hibiscus Flowers: Helps exfoliate skin and reduce redness

– Honey and Hyaluronic acid: Best for dry/dehydrated skin. These help plump the skin up to treat fine lines and wrinkles.

How to Use:

First, you’ll want to cleanse your skin. You want to ensure your skin is quite clean and clear of any makeup, grittiness or residue as this treatment will be on your skin overnight. FARMACY Honeymoon Glow AHA Resurfacing Night SerumOnce you’ve cleansed your skin, you’ll apply 1-2 pumps of the FARMACY Honeymoon Glow AHA Resurfacing Night Serum. Do not apply any of this product near your eyes or on your lips. The skin on your eyes and lips is very thin and sensitive and this acid would be too potent for those areas.

Do you Leave the Honeymoon Glow on Overnight?

Yes! Once applied, allow it to sit on your skin and absorb in before applying a moisturizer. I do recommend you use a moisturizer after this product as acidic skincare products can dry out your skin. Lately, I’ve been using the Yehwadam Hwansaenggo Cream, but I also would recommend the Bioderma Sensibio Rich Cream, it’s great for sensitive skin types.    Also, don’t be alarmed by the slight tingling sensation you’ll get when you first apply this product. I found that my skin tingled for about 5 minutes and that I did get some redness for about 20-30 minutes. In the morning, all signs of redness were completely gone and my skin just looked glowy, healthy, and hydrated. Recommendation:  If you have sensitive skin then I would recommend that you start by using this product once weekly, and build up towards using it two to three times weekly.    FARMACY Honeymoon Glow AHA Resurfacing Night Serum

Is Farmacy Honeymoon Glow Safe to use During Pregnancy/Nursing?

A number of readers have reached out with questions regarding whether or not Farmacy Honeymoon Glow Serum is safe to use during pregnancy and/or nursing.  Since I haven’t had children, and it’s not on our radar for anytime soon, I hadn’t even considered putting this kind of information into the article – so thank you to everyone who reached out. I appreciate feedback so that my content can be as helpful and informative as possible. With that being said, I did do some research and it’s somewhat conflicting. Some sources say it’s not safe during pregnancy, but it is during nursing. On Farmacy Beauty online, they answer in a more blanket statement saying that all their products are tested rigorously, but to consult a doctor if you’re concerned.      I decided to do a bit more digging and I actually found that someone had asked this question on the actual product on the Farmacy website, and here is how Farmacy responded:     It seems like it’s safe to use in small amounts, but I would recommend you consult your doctor before adding into your skincare routine if you are pregnant or nursing.    FARMACY Honeymoon Glow AHA Resurfacing Night Serum

The Results: This Serum has Changed My Skin

Not to be dramatic, but this serum has truly changed my skin. I’ll often go to bed feeling like my skin looks tired, dull, and lifeless and then in the morning will wake up with smooth, glowy, and healthy-looking skin because of this skin. The FARMACY Honeymoon Glow clarifies and resurfaces your skin by removing dead skin which actually helps tighten pores, reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles, and prevents future breakouts. I’ve really found that over the last few months of using this that that is really what it does. My fine lines look smoother, my pores look smaller (hooray small pores on my nose!), and while I’ve still been struggling with breakouts I do find that this helps keep them somewhat at bay.

There are other products out there that are similar, like Drunk Elephants T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum. Like the Farmacy Honeymoon Glow the Drunk Elephants T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum is an AHA/BHA serum but it has 12% rather than 14%. There is also a price difference – the Farmacy Honeymoon Glow Serum is $77 for 1oz, and the Drunk Elephants T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum is $118.00 for 1oz.  Another option is the HERBIVORE Prism 20% AHA + 5% BHA Exfoliating Glow Facial. While this isn’t an overnight serum, this is an AHA/BHA face mask that you leave on for about 20 minutes (5 – 10 minutes if you have sensitive skin) and it costs $75.00 for 1.7oz.   FARMACY Honeymoon Glow AHA Resurfacing Night Serum Skincare Review

I too am in love with this product! My skin is glowing and smooth when I awake in the a.m. However, even after almost one year, I feel as though I am not using it the correct way — and therefore am not reaping it’s full benefits. For the most part, I apply it after I tone and after applying serum. I recently Incorporated a vitamin c Serum in which is meant for use in the p.m. From what the directions suggest, it sounds like they want you to use it as an “overnight mask” so I apply it as a final step, although I do typically moisturize afterwards, as I am more of a dry skin type of gal. My confusion/uncertainty lies in the fact that have heard many times to use a bha/aha as a first step in your routine. I initially purchased it in hopes of helping with my milia, as well as my congestion and somewhat blemish prone skin, that can’t handle most acne products due to the dry skin factor. What is your take? Sorry for babbling! Great article btw, and am already looking at other blogs on your site, am glad to have found your site!

Absolutely! If your skin is not use to chemical exfoliants, I recommend use once per week to build up tolerance. Upon application Honeymoon Glow burns, I felt a slight burning/tingling sensation the first four times I have used the product.
