Where has the summer gone? I mean, really – it feels as though I blinked, and suddenly it was all winding down. I guess the saying is true – time really does fly when you’re having fun. With this being such a jam-packed summer, I have had to narrow down my style and come up with a formula to achieve great outfits without much thought or time. At first it was challenging (and at first, I often left the house realizing that nothing about my outfit actually worked together) but quickly I realized there is a simply science to style, and once you know it – you never will have one of those “I have nothing to wear!” moments ever again.
Let’s be honest, we all want to look stylish every day. But some days are more rushed than others, other days you wake up more tired, and it’s easy to let our style slide during those times. On these days, refer to this simple 3 step formula to achieve great style:
The 3 Step Formula to Great Style Everyday
The Neutral Factor
When you’re putting an outfit together quickly, one thing to remember is that either the top or bottom should be in a neutral tone. This simply just makes it easier to quickly add a print or bright colour with the other item, and will help you avoid throwing together pieces that clash. For example, a pair of jeans will always work as a neutral base for your outfit. Once you throw on your favourite pair of jeans, you can really add on any top without the worry to mismatching.
Add in Texture
Texture instantly adds something interesting to an outfit. A lace shirt, suede shoes, or a metallic handbag will immediately take a simple look and elevate it. Best of all, if you have all of these things you can often mix and match them within the same outfit as most textures work beautifully when worn together.
Add in a Print, or Pop of Colour
Colours and prints brighten up an outfit and give your style a bit more personality. Even if you stick to a all-neutral outfit, adding in a bright pair of shoes will make your overall look appear more thought-out and sophisticated.

Great idea of wearing neutrals with a pop of color through a purse or shoes… and yes summer flew, I’m going to miss it xox ♡♡♡
Perfect tips for a nice simple outfit! Those are definitely rules I follow myself 🙂

Loving that top on you, beauty! That cross body is perfect too!
xo, Amanda
Simple and easy! Things everyone should have in their closet already =)
It’s hard with the texture part lol, but I like your formula.
I’m definitely all about the pop of color to an outfit. My shoes are usually the most colorful thing I have on – then my nails are colored to match. I’m a total sucker for doing my nails to bring out a color in what I’m wearing lol
Great tips! And love the look 🙂

Great tips. I always love to add a pop of color or a pattern. It turns any plain outfit into a fab one. I also love the idea of neutral tones. You can always easily match these pieces great post
Love this!
Simple and Great 🙂 love this
I can’t even wear my jeans anymore without them “rolling down my waist”. XD
I just totally have to organize and purge my clothes, and figure out what do about everything. D:
By the way, that shirt looks super cute.
I totally agree! Styling outfits comes natural to me. My mother always had me dressed up as a child and it definitely wore off. Because I seem to be a natural with piecing outfits together but I find myself judging those who don’t do it as well, thinking ‘how can you not see what goes/doesn’t’ :/ These are great tips for anyone who struggles to dress up or simply doesn’t have time. Every outfit, casual all the way to formal should be built on this simple base. Neutral, a certain texture and a pattern/color! 🙂
Hey Amy! You’re definitely lucky that it comes natural to you! It doesn’t always for me, so I definitely can’t judge anyone for mismatching haha! But this summer has forced me to be a little bit more streamlined since it’s been such a chaotic / busy times summer – and this formula has definitely helped me getting through these moments 🙂 It never feels good to walk out of the house knowing your outfit is wacky!
I picked up the same shirt at F21 – it looks so cute on you!
Such a pretty top! Love your style. Also your ring is amazing!!!
I typically suck at fashion, but THIS, I can do! Super easy to follow. Thanks!
