Holiday Beauty that Shimmers | Christmas Makeup Look
Reading Time: 5minutes
Is anyone else in total shock that we are nearing the holidays? I have said it many times this year, but I really cannot believe how quickly this year has gone by!
Growing up, I always remember my mum saying that as you get older, time also seems to speed up, too – and boy, have I ever noticed that.
The holidays have to be one of my favourite times of year, only coming second to summer. There’s a sort of magic in the air, a sense of joy and happiness that I just adore. I also, love holiday parties.
It feels like there are such few times of the year that you get to sit down with your coworkers, or even your friends and family; and the holidays make that all possible. Suddenly, we have holiday office parties, gatherings with friends, and dinners with family.
As someone who loves makeup and beauty, the holiday season always gives me so much inspiration for makeup looks; and if I am being honest, I am not much of a party-goer the rest of the year, so this time of year also gives me more opportunities to get creative with my beauty routine.
Holiday parties are a great opportunity to revamp your makeup routine, and have a bit more fun with it. It’s the perfect time of year to play with metallics and sparkle, and get out of your beauty comfort zone.
For me, beauty always starts with skincare. So, before I jumped into my makeup look I first cleansed my skin with my Neostrata Gel Cleanser, and then followed up with my SkinCeuticals Metacell Renewal and SkinCeuticals Phloretin.
I recently have begun using SkinCeuticals and I have to say, it has done wonders for my skin. I can’t wait to share a full review with you all!
On my eyes, I went for a simple golden look. I first applied my concealer, which I always apply to both my eyelids and under-eyes so that any veins are concealed.
Then, I applied Sephora’s Velvet Eyeshadow in Nº03 and added on Dirty Sweet from Urban Decay’s Smoky Palette overtop. I also applied Dirty Sweet to the lower lash line.
In the crease, I applied Whisky so that the look had a bit more depth to it. For eyeliner, I went with my new NARS Kohliner in Sichaun.
On my lashes, I am using the Annabelle Expandable Mascara.
To finish off the look, I am grabbing my Josie Maran Concealer and applying it under my eyes, and then blending it out with my finger.
On my cheeks, I used Outlaw from my new NARS True Story Cheek & Lip Palette.
I also used the highlight colour from the palette, which is called Devotee. I love this highlight so much that I also added it to my nose, inner eye corners, and brow bone area.
To finish the look off, I turned to my eos Shimmer Lip Balm in Sheer Pink. Year-round, I struggle with dry lips and I am always on the hunt for products that are natural and organic to help improve the look and feel of my lips. For me, the ingredients that go into a product are really important. I am always looking for products and cosmetics which are organic and natural, like eos lip balms are. I find that during this time of year, my lips get super dry and can look really chapped when I wear lipsticks. That’s why I decided to forgo lipstick, and wear my new eos balm instead. eos Lip balms are antioxidant-rich with vitamin E, and contain moisturizing shea butter, and jojoba oil and they also are paraben free.Rather than packing around lipsticks in my purse, I instead always carry a lip balm or two with me. I find that a tinted or shimmery lip balm helps improve the look of my lips while also giving that touch of colour that I am looking for. The shimmer lip balms are available in two colours, the Sheer Pink as well as a clear shimmery one called Pearl. I have been wearing these every single day and just love how they add a soft frost to the lip. For my holiday look though, I decided to go with the Sheer Pink as I love the soft pink shimmer it has. There’s nothing that feels more like the holidays than a little sparkle, am I right?
Lastly, I just fixed up my hair a bit with my straightening iron. If you’d like to learn how I get these curls than be sure to watch my tutorial on how I curl my hair with a straightening iron.
Here is the completed look:
Lovely look! I always like to wear red lips for the holidays, but nude lips are always a hit too 😉
