Like so many other women, I struggled with finding a good pair of jeans. While I am a total t-shirt and jeans sort of girl, sometimes finding those perfect jeans can be tough – and worse off, it can be depressing. Many times I have walked into a store optimistically shopping for a new pair of jeans and left feeling discouraged.
Denim seems to be the one article of clothing that we all find challenging but recently Bootlegger approached me to let me know about their Jeaneologists. These Jeaneologists are trained in understanding denim and women’s body concerns so that every woman (and man!) can walk into a Bootlegger to find their perfect jeans and leave feeling confident. Click through to read more on my experience with Bootlegger’s Jeaneologist and how I found my perfect jeans!

Growing up I was always pretty lanky, but when I was about 20 I suddenly noticed that my once-lanky body type had decidedly changed to be a bit curvier. I believe in embracing your body, but having been used to one body type and then having another threw me for a loop. While I always have liked the look of curves, I had zero idea how to dress them – and my biggest issue was denim.  I found it nearly impossible to find a pair of jeans that worked with my hips, fitted my legs, and also were a proper length – because that’s the other thing, my legs are quite long and often “regular” lengths end up being capris on me.
The first pair of jeans that I felt really worked for my body type back when I was 20 was Silver Jeans. They were a bit stretchy and mmore forgiving in the hip area while also being fitted on my legs.  So after sharing my body concerns with Nicole, Bootleggers Jeaneologist, it was no surprise that she ended up pulling a few different Silver Jeans for me to try! She knew exactly which brand and style of denim would work for me, and I ended up leaving with not only one pair of jeans – but I officially have three more on my wish list!

Wow this is such a helpful way to shop! It sounds like you had a great experience. I don't wear jeans very often because I wear a small waist size yet have long legs, and I always end up with them too short in the ankle or too big at the waist. Thanks for sharing this!

Silver Jeans remind me of high school and since then, I've never even thought to check and see if they still work for my body.

Thanks for the re-introduction to Bootlegger and Silver Bree!

Once I lose about 10-15 more pounds and I can fit into a size 14 comfortably, I will have to stop over to Bootlegger Jeans and get my perfect jeans… I have large hips and a smaller waist so I have always had problems as well xox

You look so lovely with smile on your face 🙂
I have some serious jeans shopping yet to come, don't like it very much because I have to try lots of pairs before I find one or maybe two that fit me perfectly.

“I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛 I s “I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛

I saw so many powerful messages today from people sharing their "why" — the reason behind why they were there and standing as one of the "fringe". Here's a few reasons that I saw and heard:

- Why? Because I want my child to grow seeing smiles and smiling
- Why? Because I miss my family and loved ones.
- Why? Because my lived experience tells me not to trust what is happening right now.
- Why? Because I believe in our informed consent principles.
- Why? Because I believe in choice without coercion.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my job as a healthcare worker.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my business.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my home.
- Why? Because I’ve been injured.
- Why? Because I think there’s a better way forward for everyone.
- Why? Because I chose what I knew was best for me and I want everyone else to be free to do that as well.

Everyone has a unique reason why, and it’s important to take a moment to recognize and acknowledge them. Now is the time. Let's come together and be united💛

I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the loss and illness that so many have experienced from C. It has been an extraordinarily hard two years for many, many people, for all sorts of different reasons and it is not my aim to diminish any of them. What I am trying to express is that we are at a breaking point societally.

If we continue to move forward with coercion, mandates, restrictions, and divisive passports based on fear (or a hope) then we risk setting precedents that we may not be comfortable leaning on in the future. We also risk dividing our society to such a degree that may make it difficult, if not impossible, to ever bring back together. Despite all of the debates, arguments, and comments made over the last few years, I do not believe that deep down Canadians want to live in a state of perpetual division.

If this is not the time to unite and end these mandates, when is? It is our systems that are broken, and they have been broken for a very long time. We all know this. Let's unite and fix them, and more together 💛

Creating our own peace ☮️

Nearing the end of 2021, one thing that Jer & I wanted to prioritize was creating our own peace. Life has been exhausting for the last long while and, like most people, our mental well-being suffered from the current state of Canada. We knew we needed to make some changes, add something to our lives to remove us (even temporarily, now and again) from the chaos that is now the “new normal”. So, we began making road trips around BC to find our very own home away from home. I feel immensely lucky to now have this remote sanctuary in our lives. It is somewhere we can go when life gets too overwhelming, somewhere we could live eventually if life continues to be overwhelming. In just the first few days here, I’ve already felt a shift in my mindset. I feel incredibly lucky to have this place and already it feels like home. 💖
✨Growing pains✨ . . . 2021, for many of us, w ✨Growing pains✨
. . .
2021, for many of us, was a year of growth. Some of it was painful, most of it inspiring, and all of it necessary. Sometimes growing means needing to shed the older versions of ourselves and sometimes that can be difficult or cause a loss in friendships or relationships. It can be challenging - believe me, I get it. But, anything or anyone who couldn't respect your growth then won't respect your future growth. While growth can be painful it is not nearly as painful as the dull consistent ache of feeling stuck.
