The New Year has started with a bang and I am so thrilled it’s 2015. I don’t know about you, but I just have a feeling that this is going to be a good year! Hopefully I didn’t just jinx it! Jeremy & I decided to ring the New Year in together since we both worked during the day and it would’ve been tough to shuttle around to our friends big New Years Eve bash. So we ended up heading out to a lovely little spot called Prohibition in Yaletown. We were treated to a few tasty drinks (ahem, maybe a few too many!), lots of tasty bites, and champagne at midnight.
I’ll be the first to tell you that come the cold weather, I just want to keep indoors and plan trips to warm tropic destinations. My winter is usually filled with movie nights, spa-day’s at home, and cuddling up under the covers with a good book. Especially after our big New Year’s Eve night out at Prohibition, I figured that we’d likely want to spend a few days indoors (recovering and recouping from out late night festivities); But my lazy day schedule of watching a trilogy, reading Cameron Diaz’s The Body Book, and spa-daying it up was quickly nixed, and suddenly food and coffee was on the menu instead.
With the promise of BKH Jerky and a cappuccino from Revolver, I was lured from my comfortable home and out into the cold blustery rain. That guy really knows how to get me motivated- food and coffee! He even said once we were out “I know there’s nothing that’ll get you out of the house quicker than the thought of coffee!” – I guess I really am transparent!
How to Wear a Oversized Sweater
Since I was tearing myself away from the comfy warm indoor blanket-shelter that I’ve created, I decided to take a little comfort with me in the form of a super-cozy sweater and over-sized neutral-tone plaid blanket scarf. Over the last few weeks, I have been obsessed with these pieces, they are cozy and perfect for the chilly weather.
Achieve Balance
The key to wearing oversized pieces is to balance them with items that fit you properly. Rather than wearing a large sweater, slouchy jeans, and a ill fitted shirt, wear a large sweater with a pair of slim fitting jeans and a shirt that skims over your torso.
Add on Cozy Looking Pieces
There’s nothing like plaid, and knit scarves to create a really cozy and winter-ready look. Add in a oversized sweater, and suddenly you’ve created a look that’ll keep you warm and look great!!

so great 😉

HAPPY 2015
The sweater looks very warm and comfortable. Definitely something I would wear on cold days. And you mixed colors so well! Nice pictures 🙂
I have been super curious about the body book! Of course the woman is perfection so it's intimidating just to think about opening a book by her!
Yep, I'm the same way in the Winter, Bundled up in sweaters not wanting to leave the house!
I'm so excited for 2015, I already have 2 great trips planned and am hoping for more 😀

I hope you're right about 2015 being a great year! So far, mine hasn't started out good…I've been sick since NYE and now I'm covered in poison oak from neck to knee. Sounds like your year started out fun though 🙂 Cute outfit!

love that coat and your purse!
I love beige everything. I generally try to buy everything in beige or grey but I have to force myself to pick out a few pieces of color. You look great!

Something About That
Bree, I really love the purple purse you have here and how the purple is in the scarf you are wearing… you look lovely as always… (many of us have had a few too many on New Year's… it's usually all in fun xox
That sounds like my winter game plan – Just stay inside and be cozy!
I suppose if you must go out, a fuzzy cardigan, blanket scarf, and cute booties are the way to go!
Chic on the Cheap
Great combo with the purple and olive, love this cozy look.
