During my high-school days, my style was heavily inspired by the grungy fashion of the 90’s. I love ripped jeans, oversized knits, ankle boots, and all-things plaid. While my style has varied quite a bit since then, grunge-inspired styles do continue to inspire me – and I am still mad for plaid. I spotted this plaid dress from forever 21 a few weeks ago and I was immediately inspired by it.
While it’s unlike anything I currently have in my wardrobe, it did make me a bit nostalgic of my once-upon-a-punky style. I decided I would give in to my nostalgia by picking it up and embracing it into my wardrobe.
Jer & I both had Monday off so we decided to spend the day moseying around town. All the fires around BC have left a smoky haze around Vancouver, making it look and feel like we are just having grey cloudy days. Standing by the Olympic torches in Vancouver, and looking out to a view that usually includes mountains, ocean, and trees – I couldn’t help but stop and think about all the fires around BC causing this grey scale. Yes – the grey sky you’re seeing isn’t simply from weather – it’s from all the smoke from all the terrible fires. It’s pretty scary to think about all the homes that have been destroyed, and all the forest that has been burned down this summer.
Walking around town and seeing this grey fog over Vancouver, it made me really think about all the people out there who are working so hard to put out these massive fires. I want to send out a huge thank you to all the firefighters out there that are risking their lives to control & extinguish these fires; I hope you all keep safe.
