outfit details: Rose For Allure Flare Dress c/o Chicwish
Let’s be honest, while practical style during the fall and winter is essential – it can also be kind of boring at this time of year! It’s cold, windy, and rainy and it becomes quite natural to rotate through the same pieces week after week. It’s all chunky knits, rain-boots, umbrellas, and rain coats – over and over again. After a few months of this sort of weather and these sorts of styles, it’s easy to feel uninspired with our daily look. Recently I shared my 7 tips to living a more inspired life, and today I switching gears slightly to share my top tips to maintaining inspired style throughout the fall and winter!
How to Keep Your Fall Style Interesting
Do the Remix Challenge
During the colder seasons, one thing I love to do is remix my favourite summer pieces into outfits that are practical for these colder days. By taking a few summery skirts and dresses and re-vamping them into rain-ready looks I am able to utilize nearly my entire wardrobe and continue to wear some of my old favourites.
Invest in a few Pieces that Balance Inspiration & Practicality
One thing I find so difficult about these colder months is the ability to dress in the ladylike fits and silhouettes that usually so inspire me. I often become so attached to cozy knits, blanket scarves, and leather leggings, that I nearly forget how much I adore feminine dresses until spring comes around again. When I spotted this chicwish rose for allure dress online I was immediately inspired. I had thought it would be a beautiful holiday party dress, would work throughout these colder months, and also transition beautifully into spring. Upon receiving it I was even more excited by the heavy material and quality as it made it a dress that actually felt quite warm and cozy to wear. It’s always exciting to find a piece that balances an element of inspiration with practicality.
Continue to Play with Colour
From summer to fall, it’s easy to allow your outfit’s colour palettes go from delicate pastels and bright jewel tones to basic monochromatic pairings. We begin to just wear what’s comfortable and forget to add something fun into a look for ourselves. And while, here and there I do love a good monochromatic outfit, when it’s the same look
day in, day out it can leave ourselves feeling bored with our style. When you
begin to feel uninspired with your fall style, challenge yourself to add a bit of colour
into your look – try a bright scarf, bold necklace, or a vibrant lip colour for
a bit of fun!

Yep….I am definitely already in the sweater + jeans rut. but maybe when I want to start wearing tights I'll do some skirts (still not ready for tights, haha)
