This past summer I was really inspired by 70’s inspired style. The 70’s has always been one of my favourite times for fashion and it was kind of exciting seeing the stores fill up with pieces that have that effortless vibe.
Now that fall is swinging around, I am getting even more jittery and excited for fall the 70’s inspired styles to come. I can’t help but think of fringe, suede, floppy hats, bold vests, and flared jeans.
Add in the fact that fall already brings some of my very favourite colour palettes (I’m obsessed with the rust, blush, and mustard tones of fall) and I am almost beginning to feel confident saying that I am ready to say goodbye to summer… Well, maybe not that ready!
1970s Inspired Style
Flared Denim:
To me, flared jeans truly embody the carefree nature of the ’70s and add a bit of that bohemian vibe to any outfit you pair with them.
Plus, I cannot look at a pair of bell-bottom jeans without thinking of my dad’s ’70s style captured in photos – complete with golden Farrah Fawcett hair and baby blue bell-bottoms. I picked mine up from American Eagle, and I love how they instantly bring that 70’s vibe to this outfit.
There are so many unique ways you can style your flared denim this fall – from stylish looks at the office, to trendy evening outfits. For example, rock them at work by styling your favourite button-ups with some chic dark wash flared denim.
Or, try pairing your flared jeans with a slinky camisole and high heels for an evening out. And for a totally 70’s look, rock your flared jeans with a long sleeve shirt layered with a suede fringe vest and floppy hat.
Hair Flare:
The ’70s were all about long hair with funky accessories. Use flower crowns and golden hair chains to add a bit more bohemia into your look.
Whenever I see these flower crowns or hair chains I always think of that sort of “flower child” style of the ’70s. Try rocking these feminine hairpieces for a night out, or a casual day time look.
Vests:
I love vests, they add so much coziness while also providing another opportunity to add something fun and unique into an outfit.
I’ve been seeing tons of suede vests with funky fringe on them and I can’t wait to style one of those into my look this coming fall. I think these sorts of vests would look great with skinny jeans and ankle boots for a casual everyday look.
And just like last year, I am completely drawn to faux fur vests. I personally find that faux fur vests add a really edgy 70’s rocker edge to a look, and I can’t help but think of “Almost Famous” whenever I sport one. Rock your faux fur vest when you’re looking to really make a statement because you’ll definitely get noticed when you wear one!
Suede (well, faux suede):
Add a bit of texture to your look this fall with suede or faux suede pieces. I’m especially obsessed over suede vests, bags, and boots. Suede is such a rich texture and it instantly makes me think of the ’70s.
Fringe:
Pieces that have a little fringe on them always have a more carefree and playful vibe to them. Add a bit of fringe to your style with your vests and handbags.

Bree this outfit is sooooooooooooo perfect! You've absolutely nailed the 70s look, and it really, *really* suits you. I've not seen many bloggers pull off flared jeans with flats as well as you… I tried but it was nowhere near as good as this!
