When I first spotted these leopard print shorts I was instantly intrigued, and when I saw they were only $7.00 I knew that I just had to have them. I have always loved leopard print, I feel like it’s such a fun print to sport and it adds a playfulness to any look. Plus, this summer I’ve been really on the hunt for comfortable pieces, and these loose fitting shorts seemed like they’d be pretty much perfect.
If there was one trend I hated above all else it has to be low-rise pants, shorts, and skirts. I’ve never been a fan because I’ve never found them comfortable. I remember even while I was in high-school that occasionally I would question the trend – how does anyone sit down comfortably with such low waistlines? So now that high waist pieces are in style and readily available at nearly every store, I have been purchasing the higher rise pretty much exclusively. These high rise leopard shorts have kind of become a “holy grail” item for me this summer because A) they were only $7 B) they float away from the body which is really comfortable and C) the higher rise is comfortable & chic.
Why I love high rises:
No more peek-a-boo underwear: We’ve all seen the underwear that peeks over the waistline of someone’s jeans, and let’s be honest – it’s not a good look. When you go with a higher rise fit on your jeans, skirts, or shorts you easily eliminate the chances of giving a sneak peek of your undergarments.
No more peek-a-boo plumbers bum: This is the worst! Too many times have I seen crack, and frankly – it’s totally wack. If your rise is so low that you cannot bend over without getting plumbers-butt than in my opinion – they are too low! Higher rises will allow you to bend and move around without exposing your behind to the public.
It emphasizes your waistline: Higher rises will emphasize your waistline because that’s exactly where they hit! You’ll achieve a more hourglass shape by having your rise cut at your natural waistline.
It elongates your legs: Higher rises trick the eye into thinking that your legs are longer than they really are. You’ll feel taller, longer, and leaner in a higher rise.
How to Wear High Rises:
Tuck It In: To create a really long-looking leg line, try tucking in your shirt rather than letting it hang over the waist of your jean, skirt, or shorts.
Go with a Tunic: If you’re a bit nervous to dive into the high-rise trend, then try a loose-fitting tunic with a pair of high-rise flared denim. This plays into a bohemian style while also letting you get more comfortable with this trend.
Be 70’s Inspired: You know me – I love 70’s inspired fashion. If you’re just trying out high-rise fits then get some inspiration from the 70s. From flared jeans to funky high-rise shorts, you’ll get tons of inspiration from the carefree + stylish 1970s.
Try Looser Fits: Looser-fitting high rises are super comfortable. These leopard shorts are high rise and loose fitting which makes them very easy and relaxed to wear.

Adorable look, sweety))))) happy friday!!!))) xoxo <3

You're rocking the high rise! It's a somewhat scary trend if you're new to it but your tips are spot on.

I am so with you on the high waisted thing. I've always hated low rise, I felt like they could fall down at any minute! Eventually I just started buying pants a size bigger so I could pull them up higher… but now (thank goodness) I don't have to do that anymore! Haha, literally everything I own now is high waisted, and I never wanna go back to that low rise life. Awesome outfit by the way, I love the short and those shoes are on point!

Bree, the leopard print shorts are really cute… I actually thought they were a skirt… I love your tips, I hope more people take them instead of squeezing into a tight pair of small shorts xox
Hey Bree, been a while, it's nice to see you still doing your thing, your photos look great! 🙂 That is a lovely outfit you put together, but I am easily sold because I'm a sucker for leopard!
Cheers!
