Finally – I found the shorts I’ve been on the hunt for for the last few summers. I love high waist shorts because I have always found them to be the most comfortable to wear; but when it came to tracking down some vintage levi-inspired denim shorts, I had the worst time! Either they were wildly expensive, fit strangely, or would be available online but not in stores – and these types of shorts are ones you want to try on before buying.
A couple weekends ago, I made a trip to Pacific Centre after receiving a few gift cards a couple weeks ago. I know what you’re thinking – “did I just read that correctly?” – yes, I managed to hold onto the gift cards for a couple of weeks before spending them. I’ve even shocked myself. Anyways, while we were there, my friend and I decided to head into Aritzia. As soon as I walked in I spotted piles of the shorts I have so long been on the hunt for. Of course, I snatched up nearly every colour I could find and headed for the change rooms.
While I usually don’t find Aritzia’s sales to really be sales, this particular sale really impressed me. While the store was absolutely slammed (and a little stressful to be in), it was totally worth it to rummage through all the incredibly marked down merchandise. These shorts were my greatest score from that day at only $50 (I know, it’s still pricey, but it’s better than the typical $100 shorts I had been seeing) and they have already become one of my favourite pairs of shorts. If you’ll be hitting up the sales this weekend (there are SO many around town right now) than be sure to click through to find my tips on surviving the sales day madness!
How to Shop the Sales Successfully
Go with Time to Kill:
If you have an appointment at 10AM and a meeting at 12PM than chances are you do not have time to shop a busy sale. Give yourself a few hours to pick through all the pieces in the store. Chances are if a sale is good, the merchandise will get strewn all over the store and you’ll want to give yourself time to search for what you want.
Set a Budget:
Going without a money limit can be devastating to your bank account. Learn from my mistakes and go with a set dollar amount in mind. You don’t want to risk draining your savings for a brand new wardrobe!
Go with a Friend:
Make your shopping day a fun friend hang out too. It’ll help take the stress out of shopping in such a busy store if you have someone to laugh it off with. Plus, you guys can hold eachothers place in the change room line ups when you spot something super cute on a nearby rack.
If there is something you really want then go with that target item in mind. I went for shorts – and shorts is what I got. OK – yes, I got a shirt too, but they all fit within my budget! If you’re looking for jeans, than don’t grab three dresses instead – find your target item, and if you have money left in your budget than you can grab a few other items.
