This blog post was sponsored by Jergens® but the opinions are all my own. Huge thank you to my friends at Jergens for these wonderful products!
My mornings are always busy. I wake up at 5AM, quickly grab a shower, rush to do my makeup, throw on my pre-planned outfit, and rush out the door. Well, rush to make a cup of coffee and then rush out the door.
To say it’s a hustle would be a total understatement. And while I could wake up a bit earlier to save myself the stress, I like my sleep too much to give it up just to have a few extra minutes to get ready.
But just because I like to catch my Zzz’s doesn’t mean I am willing to neglect beauty, health, and style for it. The tradeoff for a bit more sleep is that I need to be highly organized for my mornings to run smoothly.
It’s taken a few years to figure out the necessary steps to keep my early mornings easy and organized but since I’m a girl who loves her sleep, coming up with a routine that has allowed me to hit the snooze button a few extra times has been essential.
Tips to Beat the Early Morning Rush
QUICK ON THE GO SKINCARE
One thing that I’ve made a huge priority in the AM though is my skincare. I always am sure to go through a quick skincare routine so I can begin my day feeling bright and fresh. But this skincare doesn’t just mean my face as I really believe that taking care of your skin from head to toe is important.
During the cooler months if there’s one thing I struggle with it’s dry skin. There’s nothing more irritating that having dry rough skin, and sometimes it can feel like a guessing game on what can truly cure it.
Each year I try a million different moisturizers to try to alleviate my frustrating dry skin. This year, I decided to try something totally different – a moisturizer that you use before drying off to maximize your skins hydration.
Lately, I’ve committed myself to use Jergens Moisturizer for Wet Skin. You apply the moisturizer immediately after getting out of the shower and then towel off to find more hydrated feeling skin. I also recommend that you lightly exfoliate your skin while you’re in the shower to slough off any dead skin cells to really get the full effect of the moisturizer.
The two scents I’ve been alternating between are the Jergens Moisturizer for Wet Skin with Coconut Oil and Moisturizer for Wet Skin with Green Tea Oil and I have to say I really do love them both.
The Coconut Oil moisturizer has a light and sweet tropical scent with yummy notes of coconut, and the Green Tea Oil has a very soothing and refreshing scent.
The quick-drying formula locks in moisture and hydration almost instantly which is perfect for all of us who really don’t have time to waste in the morning!
Since you’re not waiting to dry off before moisturizing you’re able to take full advantage of the hydration from shower and moisturizer which leaves your skin softer, smoother, and healthier feeling.
PRE-PACKED LUNCHES
How many times have we all forgotten to make a lunch and had to cave and get pizza for lunch? It throws off our healthy eating and leaves you feeling like you’re scrambling to throw something together.
To eliminate this I always make a few extra portions for dinner. I pack the extras away for Jeremy and myself for lunch and that way I don’t have to worry about it in the morning.
PRE-PLANNED OUTFITS + ACCESSORIES
In the early mornings picking out an outfit can be disastrous. You easily can be so sleepy and disoriented that you walk out of the house wearing your shirt backwards, cardigan inside-out, or a rainbow of colours.
I hate to admit this, but I’ve even walked out of the house wearing two different shoes. Sure, they were both leopard print – but they were different shapes completely. I also always pick out my accessories the night before because I like to make sure they go together.

Picking your outfit the night before is a great way to eliminate the stress of choosing a outfit last minute, and it also eliminates the likeliness of inside-out clothing, mismatched colours – or worse, mismatched shoes.
Be sure to look at the weather network though before deciding upon an outfit as sunshine, rain, or snow could really impact what you pick!
KEEP HAIR DONUTS ON HAND
Rather than fusing with your hair in the morning, turn to your hair donuts and quickly sweep your hair up into a sleek bun.
Hair donuts are especially useful to me in the fall and winter months as my hair tends to get frizzy when it rains – which is almost always in Vancouver!
Bad hair days are bound to happen now and again so having items on hand that can quickly turn messy, frizzy, disheveled hair into something that appears more sleek and polished is essential – especially during the work week!
CREATE A BASIC BEAUTY ROUTINE
During the week days, my makeup is all about the basics. A quick swipe of eyeliner, a sweep of eye-shadow, a few coats of mascara, a bit of blush, and some lip balm are all I need to feel ready to walk out the door.
I have this basic makeup look down to only 5 minutes and while it may not be the most exciting look, it works with every outfit. I love experimenting with makeup, but at 5AM who knows what I’d come up with if I decided to get creative.

Bree, the key to a good morning is always organization the night before… that is super hard with a teen in the house who has everything disrupted but I agree with you… also I love Jergen's lotion… it is a great product xox
Couldn't agree more! Being organized the night before + efficient morning beauty routines are completely necessary! I can imagine it being hard with a teen / child – mornings would be less predictable then I'm sure! 🙂
Lovely post, thanks for sharing 🙂
I have a new outfit post up on the blog, would love to know your thoughts:
