Josie Maran “Escape to Morocco” Review

Reading Time: 3 minutes
 1. Argan High Gloss Lip Quench in Pink Honey 2. Argan Colour Stick in Spice 3. The Argan Illuminizer

For a few weeks before Christmas, whenever I walked by the Sephora store I was always curious about the Escape to Morocco set by Josie Maran. I suppose my interest in it also caught my mum’s attention because she up and surprised me on Christmas day with this wonderful luxury set! It was a totally unexpected gift and honestly, I’ve been totally obsessed with it since Christmas day.

Josie Maran “Escape to Morocco” Review

100% Pure Argan Oil Light:

I was originally very skeptical of using facial oil on my skin. I don’t really have dry or oily skin but if I had to answer to one or the other I’d probably say my T-Zone has a tendency to get slightly drier. Using an oil on my skin had always been a bit of a worry for me, I didn’t want to clog my pores or make my skin feel & look oily and so I had never purchased an oil for my skin before. I had read previously many reviews on this facial oil before only to find amazing rave reviews so I decided to give it a try. Quite frankly, this is one of most amazing products I’ve ever put on my skin. My skin hasn’t felt heavy or clogged and, infact, it feels softer and smoother. I’ve noticed that any small dry patches I had have completely gone away and the rest of my skin has maintained its “normal” skin type. I will continue to use this product and will absolutely be buying the full size in the future.   1. Argan High Gloss Lip Quench in Pink Honey 2. Argan Colour Stick in Spice 3. The Argan Illuminizer

Argan Colour Stick in Spice:

This colour stick is described as a “warm nude brown” on the Sephora website but I’d venture to say it is a bit more coppery & coral tinted than described. I have long wanted to branch away from pink blush tones but have felt a tad nervous when it comes to copper blushes.  Though I typically love copper blushes on others I sometimes have worried they could look ruddy or orange on my skin tone. Once again though, Josie Maran has proved me wrong and showed that this copper blush will definitely be a staple in my beauty bag.

Argan High Gloss Lip Quench in Pink Honey:

I’ll be honest; I’m never really a fan of lip glosses. I love lip balms and lipsticks but lip glosses always feel a bit glompy and heavy to me. This lip-gloss is beautiful, the colour is absolutely stunning and it is very moisturizing. Still though, it’s a bit on the “glompy” side and I don’t think I’ll repurchase this particular item.

The Argan Illuminizer:

This gold tone illuminator is absolutely stunning. It has a strong sheen in it which could lead to an overly heavy shiny look but when applied with a light hand it can give that gorgeous subtle golden sheen.  This is my first gold tone illuminator, typically I go for pink or light gold pearly illuminators but this may just become my new favourite for a sun kissed look!

Summary:

It’s been one of most interesting sets for me because I’ve never owned facial oil before, nor have I ever owned a blush colour like this so needless to say, it’s been a very fun set to play with! I’ve actually already purchased the full-size of the colour stick blush recently while I was at Sephora and plan on purchasing the full sizes of the illuminizer & facial oil in the future.

“I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛 I s “I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛

I saw so many powerful messages today from people sharing their "why" — the reason behind why they were there and standing as one of the "fringe". Here's a few reasons that I saw and heard:

- Why? Because I want my child to grow seeing smiles and smiling
- Why? Because I miss my family and loved ones.
- Why? Because my lived experience tells me not to trust what is happening right now.
- Why? Because I believe in our informed consent principles.
- Why? Because I believe in choice without coercion.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my job as a healthcare worker.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my business.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my home.
- Why? Because I’ve been injured.
- Why? Because I think there’s a better way forward for everyone.
- Why? Because I chose what I knew was best for me and I want everyone else to be free to do that as well.

Everyone has a unique reason why, and it’s important to take a moment to recognize and acknowledge them. Now is the time. Let's come together and be united💛

I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the loss and illness that so many have experienced from C. It has been an extraordinarily hard two years for many, many people, for all sorts of different reasons and it is not my aim to diminish any of them. What I am trying to express is that we are at a breaking point societally.

If we continue to move forward with coercion, mandates, restrictions, and divisive passports based on fear (or a hope) then we risk setting precedents that we may not be comfortable leaning on in the future. We also risk dividing our society to such a degree that may make it difficult, if not impossible, to ever bring back together. Despite all of the debates, arguments, and comments made over the last few years, I do not believe that deep down Canadians want to live in a state of perpetual division.

If this is not the time to unite and end these mandates, when is? It is our systems that are broken, and they have been broken for a very long time. We all know this. Let's unite and fix them, and more together 💛

Creating our own peace ☮️

Nearing the end of 2021, one thing that Jer & I wanted to prioritize was creating our own peace. Life has been exhausting for the last long while and, like most people, our mental well-being suffered from the current state of Canada. We knew we needed to make some changes, add something to our lives to remove us (even temporarily, now and again) from the chaos that is now the “new normal”. So, we began making road trips around BC to find our very own home away from home. I feel immensely lucky to now have this remote sanctuary in our lives. It is somewhere we can go when life gets too overwhelming, somewhere we could live eventually if life continues to be overwhelming. In just the first few days here, I’ve already felt a shift in my mindset. I feel incredibly lucky to have this place and already it feels like home. 💖
✨Growing pains✨ . . . 2021, for many of us, w ✨Growing pains✨
. . .
2021, for many of us, was a year of growth. Some of it was painful, most of it inspiring, and all of it necessary. Sometimes growing means needing to shed the older versions of ourselves and sometimes that can be difficult or cause a loss in friendships or relationships. It can be challenging - believe me, I get it. But, anything or anyone who couldn't respect your growth then won't respect your future growth. While growth can be painful it is not nearly as painful as the dull consistent ache of feeling stuck.
