I love getting my hair blown out. No matter how hard I try, I simply can never recreate the hairstyles that those talented hairdressers so effortlessly create. Since I don’t get my hair blown out often, when I do I like to be sure that I make it last as long as possible! Today I am sharing a few sure-fire ways to make your blowout last longer so be sure to click through to read more!
How to Make Your Blowout Last Longer
Say No to Hair Sprays and Heavy Oils
Nothing ruins my love for a blowout faster than heavy products. Between hairspray and oils, the hairstyle barely lasts a few hours let alone a few days! After many blowout product mishaps, I have finally realized that I would rather my blowout to fall a bit rather than last only a single day – and that’s why I say no to finishing hair products and sprays.
Avoid Intense Workouts
If you’re a fitness fiend – I’m sorry, your blowout simply won’t last. Working out is great for your health, but terrible for your blowout. We all know the drill, a good workout leaves you sweaty and that means your hair is sweaty and oily, too. Rather than try to bring your greasy mane back to life, simply lighten up your workouts in order to keep your hair sweat-free.
Loosely Put it Up Before Bed
To avoid getting knotted messy hair simply tuck your hair up into a loose bun at night. Tight hair ties will leave a kink in your hair, so rather than use those, try a soft and stretchy scrunchy. A scrunchy will gently pull your hair up without adding a kink to your hairstyle.
Use a Dry Shampoo
After a few days, your hair is bound to get a little ick-factor. To further prolong your blowout, invest in a dry shampoo. My personal favourites are Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo and Macadamia Natural Oil Extend Dry Shampoo. In desperate times, resort to baby powder to absorb any oil.
Pin the Front Pieces of Your Hair Back
The front pieces of your hair will fall to oiliness faster than the rest. This is because they are sitting right on your skin and will get the brunt of the oils on your face. Plus, you’re more likely to fuss and touch these pieces with your hands throughout the day. In order to make your blowout last even longer, be sure to pull those pieces away from your face. At night, invest in a silk sash and during the day try sporting a cute hair band!
