OUTFIT DETAILS: ELAN Jersey Sleeveless Dress Cover Up c/o Swimco (If you LOVE this dress as much as I do, then I know you’ll love this one too: Hurley Dri-Fit Biker Dress)
Since summer is my favourite time of year, most of my favourite clothes are summer pieces. I love light summer dresses (like my ELAN Jersey Sleeveless Dress Cover Up from Swimco), floaty skirts, and shorts – and since this summer has flown by, I am really not ready to let them go just yet. I mean really, where exactly has this summer ran off to? It feels like it was just the May Long weekend, and suddenly it’s all over!
There’s a huge misconception out there when it comes to summer styles, and trends, not working for the fall and winter months. The truth is, by taking a little time in the morning and by mastering the art of layering, you’ll be able to take your favourite summer pieces and wear them all year long.
This year, rather than going ahead and tucking away all of your summer favourites, I challenge you to try to restyle and rework those pieces into stylish fall and winter ready outfits. But wait – don’t worry, I am not just challenging you to make those summer styles work for fall – I am also going to share a few tips on how to make them work!
Change your Shoes
While many summer styles can be reworked for fall, sandals can not. Rather than try to make your favourite flip flops work, instead focus on dresses, skirts, and shirts – and swap your favourite flippy floppys for some sneakers or boots. The most important thing during the cooler months is to keep your feet warm (or at least that’s a super important one for me!), so invest in shoes that you like both style and practicality wise.
It’s Cardigan Season
There’s nothing more essential during the colder months than a good cardigan. They instantly make your favourite sundresses, shirts, and looks more wearable when it’s chilly out. For sundresses like ELAN Jersey Sleeveless Dress from Swimco (which funny enough is also a beach cover-up!) I like to wear a long shell cardigan as it creates a cozier overall look (and feel!)
A Scarf will Instantly Make Your look Cozy
I’m a scarf lover. During the fall and winter, scarves are one of my favourite accessories. Rather than wearing a necklace, I’ll instead throw on a scarf for a cozier outfit.
A Floppy Hat is a Fall Essential
Just like a scarf, a hat is a great accessory during the fall months. It 1) keeps your head warm, and 2) makes your outfit have a more overall fall look to it. During the fall and winter, my hats become my go-to and I wear them day in and day out.

Super cute! And a great way to get more wear out of Summer pieces! I’ll have to keep that in mind, leggings + boots will be very helpful! 😀
