A little history on my skin (and skincare)First, let me share a bit of background on my skin with you all. My skin is dry-prone and sensitive. Whenever I try a new beauty or skincare product, I am typically on high alert that there’s a high likelihood that my skin could get 1) even drier than usual, or 2) break out in hives. There really have been more than a few occasions when I have tried a product in hopes that it would be great – and ended up with irritated, red, and painful skin.
In with the New… Trying out Paula’s Choice SkincareWhen I shared with Paula’s Choice Skincare my skincare concerns, they let me know that their new Calm skincare line would be the perfect one for me. Upon receiving my Paula’s Choice Redness Relief skincare kit (for normal to dry-prone skin), I immediately took the plunge and began to use the full Calm skincare line. Usually, with a line as large as this one, there’s a product or two that I don’t end up using as regularly, but I have actually found that this entire lines works incredibly well all-together and doesn’t over-hydrate (thus irritating) my skin. Paula’s Choice Calm Redness Relief
Calm Redness Relief CleanserThe Calm Cleanser is probably one of my favourite products in this line. I use a cleanser every single day, and need one which can clean my skin without drying it out. So many cleansers are too harsh on my sensitive skin and leave it feeling striped. This cleanser though has a creaminess to it which feels very hydrating even while foaming up on my skin.
Calm Redness Relief TonerI rarely have used toners on my skin, and when I have before in the past I have found that they felt chemically on my skin. Since this toner is milky and almost cream-based, it didn’t feel chemically or harsh on my sensitive skin. I definitely will continue to use this toner to help balance my skin as it is quite dry prone.
Calm Redness Relief 1% BHA Lotion ExfoliantFor me, this exfoliant felt very unique in comparison to any other exfoliant I have used. It was incredibly gentle and didn’t have the gritty texture that I have typically found with exfoliants. Instead, this creamy exfoliant just felt as though it lightly cleansed my skin to leave it feeling fresh and clean, and not irritated.
Calm Redness Relief Repairing SerumI love skincare serums. They are nearly an addiction for me, and this serum really met all my hopes and standards. I like very light and refreshing serums. Since I apply them nightly, I like to make sure that my skin won’t end up feeling tacky or sticky in the morning, but instead refreshed and healthy. This serum is very light and doesn’t just sit on your skin. It absorbs in quickly and instantly leaves you with super soft feeling skin.
Calm Redness Relief SPF 30 Mineral MoisturizerWhile I totally believe in wearing a SPF every single day, I am not always the best at putting it into practice. Occasionally, I have forgotten to quickly apply an SPF based skincare product before leaving the house – but that’s something I plan to change now that I have this moisturizer. While this moisturizer is a bit heavier than what I am used to, it does immediately help hydrate my skin and give it a healthier appearance. Plus, it protects my skin from the suns harmful rays – and that’s just a win-win!
Calm Redness Relief MoisturizerInitially, I thought this moisturizer may be too heavy for me since when I first tried it I noticed that the texture was quite thick. But, when you actually apply this moisturizer it somehow feels much lighter than it looks. I loved this product, and I have used it quite a bit to help remedy the dry patches of skin that I get typically on my nose and forehead.
