10 Types of Blog Posts that Boost Traffic

Reading Time: 5 minutes10 Types of Blog Posts that Boost Traffic If you’re looking to boost your website’s traffic then the first place to take into review is your content. Your content  is key. It will build a relationship with your readers and so if you’re noticing a drop in your traffic it could have something to do with the articles you’re putting out. Today I wanted to share 10 types of blog posts that are sure to boost traffic.  I’ve gone through major slumps in my own traffic and these posts have helped get my blog back on track.

10 Types of Blog Posts that Boost Traffic

Begin by asking yourself a few questions:

– Are you posts providing something that people are searching for?  – Do your posts solving a problem, or providing useful information? – How do your blog posts help improve people’s lives? If your content doesn’t tick off any of those boxes then you may not be giving your blog the best shot at great exposure or a loyal readership.   10 Types of Blog Posts that Boost TrafficHow to Increase Your Blogs Traffic

10 Types of Posts that Boost Traffic

1. How-To Posts:

My highest ranking posts all have been “how-to” posts. These posts basically help people discover how to do something – a new hairstyle, a makeup look, or a fun DIY project.   Ex. How to Add Custom Pin It Buttons to Your Website!

2.  Informative Posts:

Sharing information that is useful to people will always be good for your traffic – and will improve your overall following.  Whether it’s sharing how to do something, or providing insight into a product or topic, if it’s informative and well written then it’s useful.  Typically informative and how-to posts go hand in hand. But sometimes you can just have a post be information-based. For example, product reviews are informative. Here are a few examples: Let’s Talk About Keratosis Pilaris – and How I Have Treated Mine The 7 Best Hair Masks for Damaged Hair 3 Women Tried the Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel And This Is What They Thought

3. A Slightly Confrontational Post:

If you have a strong opinion than share it! While there’s no reason to ever be offensive if you have an opinion on something that you think people will relate to then it may be a good thing to share. While I was at the Hootsuite meet-up a few weeks ago one of the speakers mentioned that when she received some negative attention from an Oil Company she had been calling out online. As soon as she saw the response post from the Oil Company, she realized that she was doing something right. If she could write something that encouraged that kind of response, then her goal was accomplished.  They had to acknowledge it.

4. A “Hack” Post:

Beauty hacks, style hacks, SEO hacks – these posts will get you far! Everyone wants better, faster, and smarter ways to accomplish tasks throughout their day.  Share helpful tips and tricks to improve your reader’s life and you’ll find that your traffic sky-rockets.

5. A Performance Improvement Post:

Share a post on what will get posted more often, be informative, and share what you’ve learned from when you started blogging. I personally love reading about how people grew their traffic from X to X amount, or when people share their blogging income reports. I find it very motivating and insightful.  Soo… Moral of the story? People want to know how to improve on what they’ve built so share your successes (or setbacks) and how you got there. Example: How I Increased my Pinterest Views by 400K in 14 Days 10 Types of Blog Posts that Boost Traffic

6.  Roundups:

Do you have a few posts that you refer back to often for advice or tips? Chances are, if you find those posts helpful then your readers will, too.   A round-up of your favourite resources for blogging tips, dinner time recipes, beauty hacks – whatever – can be incredibly useful for your readers.  Example: 30 Quick Dinner Recipes    10 Types of Blog Posts that Boost Traffic

7.  Post about a Trending Topic

If you’re not sure what to post about, a good way to find timely post ideas and topics that will encourage traffic to your website is by looking for trending topics. You can use Google to find trending topics, or you can go on Twitter to find what is currently being discussed online. For example, if people are talking about Taylor Swift’s makeup at an event then it could be a good blog post idea to re-create the look.

8. Share your Expertise

Are you an expert in something? Write about it. All of you masterminds out there – share your knowledge in a relatable way so everyone can apply it to their lifestyle.

9. Create a Blog Series:

Blog series style posts are not only excellent posts to building a consistent level of traffic, they are also wonderful for breaking through creative mind-blocks. These posts work best if they are once weekly to keep up a regular schedule.

10.  Solve a Problem:

This goes along with sharing a hack. There’s nothing that’s going to improve your traffic more than providing posts that solve issues in people’s lives. Think of something you do each day that helps you along your way – you never know what little things you do that people may really love to apply to their own lives! *Lastly, one way to absolutely know if you’re content is intriguing, authentic, and unique is by reading it out loud. When you read your words aloud you’ll find the spots where it sounds like your online voice isn’t being authentic or the sentences that come off repetitively. By reading and re-reading my own content aloud I’ve found that I am able to create more engaging and “true to me” posts.

Great tips! I agree that the best posts are ones where readers feel like they are learning something new. I force myself to re-read my posts 2-3 times to check for grammar and style, but the tip about reading out loud! I'm definitely going to start doing that.

Single-use items are used for a short time, but they have a lasting impact on our environment. I believe nature is sacred and we need to cherish it, support it, and respect it. That’s why when I go on a hike I always make sure to bring my reusable water bottle.

Carrying a reusable water bottle is a simple Superhabit that you can implement anywhere you go! So this summer stay hydrated and stay environmentally responsible with a reusable water bottle! #WhatsYourSuperhabit
