While we’ve gotten a few sneak peeks into spring (hello, Mr. Sun!) – for the most part, we’ve been handed rain from the weather-Gods. I actually like rainy days, especially when they are broken up with sunnier one, so days like today that are super wet and cold really don’t bother me all that much!
With that being said though, days like today do require a bit more thought and planning when it comes to what you’re going to wear – because you never know if it’s going to stay rainy and cold all day, or if the sun will decide to peek through the clouds. So, let’s talk about rainy day outfits for spring – how to stay dry, and balance your refreshed spring style.
There are a few rainy-day essentials to pack along (which honestly, every Vancouverite carries around whether or not the weather calls for rain!) like an umbrella. But, in addition to an umbrella, I pretty much always have a toque in my bag just in case the weather takes a turn for the worse. Since I often wear my hair down, and it’s completely curl / frizz / crazy prone in the rain – having something to protect it from the wet and cold like a toque is one way I keep my hair in place when I am walking to meetings on rainy days.
Another thing that is so important when living in a rainy city is to invest in shoes that will keep your feet warm and dry. I don’t know about you, but whenever my feet get wet and cold, I tend to get a pretty nasty cold. That’s why I love my Cougar Arvida Boots so much, they are waterproof, cozy, and so stylish for everyday wear.
There are so many ways to layer up, build an outfit, and create unique looks. When you create your outfit for the day, try to add in pieces that are stylish, seasonal, and practical for your daily life. For example, during the spring I tend to reach for brighter accessories – like a bold scarf – to keep my outfit bright and fun. I also like to incorporate flower prints and other spring-inspired prints into my outfit, and that’s why I reached for the floral printed blouse I am wearing in today’s post.
One great layering piece is a leather jacket. A leather jacket is always a great go-to during the spring because it’ll keep you dry and warm throughout the day. Leather jackets are light enough that when the sun comes out you’re still comfortable in your look, but they are also water resistant and help protect you from the wind. Plus, a great leather jacket always looks chic!

Incredible outfit. So classy. So elegant. So feminine. I loved it!
