outfit details: Lemon Floral Bandeau Bikini + Lemon Floral Tie Bikini Bottom ℅ RH Swimwear
It feels like all year I dream about summer, and then once it’s here it’s gone in a breeze. I’m beginning to see Fall Style posts pop up everywhere, and while I love fall layers and rustic colour palettes, I’m simply not ready to say goodbye to the warm sunny rays of summer. I feel like I am really not ready to say goodbye to this summer especially because it has been such a spectacular one. I’ve done tons of little trips, hiked a bunch, and I even got engaged to my best friend & partner in crime.
Summer 2015 has been one for the books, and I just wish it would keep going. And since I am so not ready to say goodbye to Mr.Golden Sun I am planning ahead for a little “summer reprieve” from our cold wet winter in Vancouver. Click through today to learn more of my exciting upcoming trip (eek – I can’t wait!) and to read up on a few of my top tips to hitting the beach feeling your best both body + confidence wise!
This RH Swimwear bikini came in the mail just last week and I immediately knew that I wanted to spend my weekend in it. When I initially had spotted it online I was completely taken with the cute lemon yellow floral print; when I received it in the mail I was even more excited about the cute print – and even more so by the quality. While my trip is a few months away, I can’t help but already being so excited to sport this adorable bikini on a bright and sunny tropical beach. While I usually wear a medium in swimsuits, RH Swimwear let me know that certain bathing suits do fit smaller and this yellow floral suit was one of them. They recommended I sized up for a more comfortable fit. If you chose to grab your own super cute RH Swimwear suit and are a bit concerned about the fit than just email them – their customer service team is super helpful and will guide you into getting your perfect swimsuit.
Since the last few weekends have been somewhat busy, this passed weekend I really made a point to slow things down and soak up the last bits of summer. I went to my favourite place: the beach. stretched out on the warm sand made me realize even more so that I am just not ready for fall and winter. Thankfully (and excitingly!) though, summer won’t feel too far away since I am planning a little getaway in November with one of my longtime besties. It looks as though the two of us will be heading off on a tropical vacation come November 7th for a week of soaking up the sun. I can’t wait!
When you think of the beach, you almost can’t help but also instantly think of the “ideal bikini body”. It seems like as soon as summer comes around, we’re all bombarded with guides to getting that “bikini body” and in my opinion none of them really get to the heart of it. While your fitness may get your body in-shape, it may not get your mind on the same track. I for one, have struggled with my body image. At times, I celebrate who I am and can lounge around the beach without a care; but at other times, I have really battle insecurities and negative thoughts. Over the last few years, getting my mind in shape has been just as much of a priority and maintaining a healthy body; because you really aren’t healthy if your mind isn’t thinking positively. So today I wanted to share a few tips to feeling you best – body + confidence wise while you’re on the beach!
How to Feel Confident in a Swimsuit
1. accept yourself:
Nothing will make you look or feel better than just accepting who you are. Having body and fitness goals is great, but you don’t want to get wrapped up in what you want to be
2. eat healthy, and feel well:
When I am spending the day at the beach, I like to pack along healthy snacks and meals so that I don’t end up feeling bloated in my bikini all day. Nothing kills my confidence quite like a terrible stomachache + bad bloating!
3. drink water:
Keeping hydrated won’t only keep you looking your best on the beach, it’ll also help you avoid dehydration and sunstroke.
4. celebrate the victories:
Just because you may not be at your “fitness goal” doesn’t mean you should suffer in the meantime. Celebrate the victories in your life – that workout you went on, the salad you ordered over the burger, the stairs you climbed that day – and have them dictate your appreciation for yourself.
5. fingers + toes:
Sometimes the little things make all the difference, and when I am on the beach these “little things” are painted nails. Heck, even a cute toe ring can add a bit more pep in my step!
6. sunscreen:
While sunscreen may not feel glamorous, it is important to apply to avoid a sunburn. There’s nothing sexy about a sunburn, people!
7. master the messy bun or the beach wave:
When it’s hot out, the last thing you want to worry about is your hair. Pick a hairstyle that you feel confident and comfortable in to sport while on the beach. I typically end up throwing my hair into a messy bun on top of my head.
8. be happy + smile:
As Audrey Hepburn once said “happy girls are the prettiest” – and it’s certainly true! When you’re happy and enjoying life you simply are at your best.

Great post, you look fantastic!! Great tips, my sister and I were talking this weekend about how its about time we start accepting our bodies. Awesome post. Enjoy the last weeks of summer!
