Shifting a Shade with Clairol Nice and Easy

I was recently invited to partner up with Clairol to Shift a Shade and amp-up my beauty and style routine. Always up for a challenge, I jumped at the opportunity to work with Clairol to overhaul my hair, makeup, and style.

I flew by myself (for the first time ever!) to Toronto and started my exciting day of hair, beauty and style renewal at Hair on the Avenue.

My day with Clairol began with a quick consultation on my hopes for my makeup and hair, which was accompanied by some tasty coffee and treats.

After that, we dived right into the hair process. As you can see in the video, I was looking for a lower-maintenance look, something that would require fewer root touch-ups and would overall just be healthier for my hair.

Luis recommended a natural ombre with golden tones in it, which is exactly what I was hoping for.

Immediately after getting my hair done, I was delighted to find how silky smooth it felt and how amazingly shiny it looked.

I love my richer and more golden hair colour; it was exactly the sort of update my look needed! If, like me, you’re in need of a little refresh, join me and #ShiftaShade with Clairol Nice and Easy!

Best of all, if you’re considering a hair update, you can snag yourself $2 off your next Clairol Nice ‘n Easy hair dye purchase by clicking here and printing out the coupon!

UPDATED BEAUTY ROUTINE:

After hair, I jumped right into beauty with Patrick. I’m always concerned about looking tired; my 5AM wake-up call definitely leaves me looking a little drowsy during the day, so I am always on the lookout for a makeup routine that will remedy this.

I was shown how to use lighter, champagne-toned colours, as they are a great way to brighten up your eyes and look more refreshed.

LET’S TALK WARDROBE

My day finished off with wardrobe, where I shared one of my biggest concerns: looking frumpy when layered-up. Alexandra shared with me that the trick to layering is all about choosing thinner layers, rather than heavier fabrics, to create a more streamlined look.

As you can see, Alexandra created a perfectly layered-up look that achieves that clean and effortless appearance that I was hoping for!

If you had told me 10 years ago that I would want If you had told me 10 years ago that I would want to spend all of my spare time off grid, in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by trees and mountains — I would’ve told you that you were crazy... But here we are 🤷‍♀️😂🌲💛 #WhereLifeLeads
“I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛 I s “I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛

I saw so many powerful messages today from people sharing their "why" — the reason behind why they were there and standing as one of the "fringe". Here's a few reasons that I saw and heard:

- Why? Because I want my child to grow seeing smiles and smiling
- Why? Because I miss my family and loved ones.
- Why? Because my lived experience tells me not to trust what is happening right now.
- Why? Because I believe in our informed consent principles.
- Why? Because I believe in choice without coercion.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my job as a healthcare worker.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my business.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my home.
- Why? Because I’ve been injured.
- Why? Because I think there’s a better way forward for everyone.
- Why? Because I chose what I knew was best for me and I want everyone else to be free to do that as well.

Everyone has a unique reason why, and it’s important to take a moment to recognize and acknowledge them. Now is the time. Let's come together and be united💛

I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the loss and illness that so many have experienced from C. It has been an extraordinarily hard two years for many, many people, for all sorts of different reasons and it is not my aim to diminish any of them. What I am trying to express is that we are at a breaking point societally.

If we continue to move forward with coercion, mandates, restrictions, and divisive passports based on fear (or a hope) then we risk setting precedents that we may not be comfortable leaning on in the future. We also risk dividing our society to such a degree that may make it difficult, if not impossible, to ever bring back together. Despite all of the debates, arguments, and comments made over the last few years, I do not believe that deep down Canadians want to live in a state of perpetual division.

If this is not the time to unite and end these mandates, when is? It is our systems that are broken, and they have been broken for a very long time. We all know this. Let's unite and fix them, and more together 💛

Creating our own peace ☮️

Nearing the end of 2021, one thing that Jer & I wanted to prioritize was creating our own peace. Life has been exhausting for the last long while and, like most people, our mental well-being suffered from the current state of Canada. We knew we needed to make some changes, add something to our lives to remove us (even temporarily, now and again) from the chaos that is now the “new normal”. So, we began making road trips around BC to find our very own home away from home. I feel immensely lucky to now have this remote sanctuary in our lives. It is somewhere we can go when life gets too overwhelming, somewhere we could live eventually if life continues to be overwhelming. In just the first few days here, I’ve already felt a shift in my mindset. I feel incredibly lucky to have this place and already it feels like home. 💖
✨Growing pains✨ . . . 2021, for many of us, w ✨Growing pains✨
. . .
2021, for many of us, was a year of growth. Some of it was painful, most of it inspiring, and all of it necessary. Sometimes growing means needing to shed the older versions of ourselves and sometimes that can be difficult or cause a loss in friendships or relationships. It can be challenging - believe me, I get it. But, anything or anyone who couldn't respect your growth then won't respect your future growth. While growth can be painful it is not nearly as painful as the dull consistent ache of feeling stuck.
