There always seems to be some controversy when it comes to white jeans. The fact is, we’ve all heard the misconception “white makes your look larger” before, and many of us shy away from wearing white denim because of it. I can relate to the white denim fear because I also have shied away from wearing them myself. What changed my mind though was finding a pair of fitted white jeans I actually liked on me and found super comfortable.
As soon as I put these “magical” one-of-a-kind white jeans on, I realized it wasn’t actually the colour of the jean that I hadn’t liked before, it was the fit and material. That hit home for me. I am always going on about finding the proper fit to make styles work, and yet up until recently, I had nearly written white jeans off because I thought they simply didn’t work on my body type. Today I am talking about a few game-changers that made white jeans come back into my style-radar. Now I have two pairs of white denim, my white slouchy boyfriend jeans and these white skinny jeans and I’m convinced they are a style staple.
Why You Need a Pair of White Jeans
OK – I may be exaggerating here. Technically you don’t “need” a pair of white jeans. The world won’t crumble if you do not have a pair of white jeans in your closet – but, your style game could suffer.
Spring is all about refreshing your wardrobe, and summer is all about crisp bright pairings. Rather than just sticking to the same old blue jeans, mix up your style this spring with some white hot denim. They immediately brighten and bolden an outfit, and they instantly freshen up a simple look.
Best of all, a pair of white jeans gets us out of our comfort zones, which occasionally I think is smart to do. So, say goodbye to your usual blue and black jeans, and say hello to living up your wardrobe by grabbing a pair of comfortable [and stylish] white denim!
How to Find Your Perfect Pair of White Jeans
Pay Attention to the Rise
The rise of your denim will really make or break how you feel in them. Look for a rise that is comfortable for you and doesn’t cut in on your hip or waistline. Typically people seem to be most drawn to comfortable mid-rise denim which hit about 2 fingers-width below your belly-button.
I went with J Brands Maria High Rise Jean Leggings because of their higher rise as I personally find high rise to be the most comfortable. While high-rises may not be everyones favourite, they are very in-style currently, they offer more coverage (bending to grab something doesn’t have to be a concern anymore!), and have a retro-vibe that is just so fun.
Go for Comfort – Get Extra-Stretch THICK Denim
Stiff denim simply isn’t comfortable, and it’s not something we need to settle for anymore. There are tons of comfortable jeans available so you never have to sacrifice your comfort for style. The truth is, if something isn’t comfortable you likely won’t wear it – so seek out pieces you’ll actually WANT to wear rather than settling for anything else.
These J Brand Jeans are a comfortable jean-meets-legging pant so they look like jeans but feel as comfortable as a legging. Unlike leggings (and some jeggings) though, these jeans truly look like jeans and they are very thick which makes it so I never have to worry about them appearing see-through.
Don’t Get Attached to ONE Style
When you’re shopping for your ideal pair of white jeans, don’t get overly caught up with a specific fit. The fact is we all suit different fits and styles, so try them all on! Flared, skinny, wide leg, and boyfriend jeans – oh my! By giving a variety of styles a try you’ll likely find more than a few you like, and you’ll also discover which fits you find the most comfortable.
