I love weddings. Seriously. I love the dancing, the venues, the sweetly in-love couples. I just really enjoy it all. Jer & I have only been to one wedding this summer – his youngest brothers! We made the trip up to beautiful Powell River and had such a wonderful time joining in on their celebration. I swear, their wedding was so beautiful that I walked away with boat-loads of inspiration for our own wedding.
Since we just were at a wedding, and this weekend we’re going wedding venue shopping (eek – I’m so excited!) – weddings have been really on my mind. And one topic that always seems to come up when I’m invited to a wedding is what to wear. While you want to stay true to your style, you also always want to be dressed appropriately. What Not to Wear:
White: This one is an obvious one – never wear white to a wedding! Very occasionally a bride & groom will decide to let their guests know that wearing white is totally fine, but typically it’s something you don’t want to try. It can come off really disrespectful and rude to the bride. So basically as a rule of thumb, if you haven’t been told otherwise – don’t wear white.
Black: I have been to wedding which wearing black was no big deal, and in-fact it was part of their wedding colour. At one wedding I did even wear black because I was told it was a “anything goes/wear what ya like!” sort of wedding. But unless someone tells me that it’s A-OK, I steer clear of it.
Clubwear: To be honest, I don’t really own anything that would be considered “club-wear”; but if I did, I wouldn’t wear it to a wedding.
