For Easter this passed weekend, Jer & I ventured over to the Sunshine Coast to visit his family & a few of our friends. I’ve said it so many times, and I’m sure I’ll say it many more, but I adore the Sunshine Coast. It’s not far from home, but when you’re there it truly feels like you’ve escaped to a quieter, more peaceful place.
Friday afternoon we rushed to the ferry in hopes to beat the Easter long weekend rush. If you’ve ever gone to the Sunshine Coast, or really anywhere by ferry, then you already know that it can be total chaos on long weekends. Many times we’ve waited a few ferries just because the line-ups were so long. We lucked out this time though and got right onto the ferry we hoped.
We were craving some oysters, so once we got over to the Sunshine Coast we decided to zip over to Smittys Oyster Bar to satiate our craving. I have to say if you’re ever over on the Sunshine Coast, you’ll definitely want to stop by Smittys for an oyster or two (or twelve! See the ones we had by clicking here) – they were absolutely delish! We also learned that in the summer they open up a patio which allows you to eat your delicious meal while staring out at the beautiful Gibsons marina. We’ll definitely be making a trip back in the summer for that! After dinner we went to our friends (Jer’s brothers & his lovely girlfriends) house for a night of relaxation, hot tubbing, and catch-up. It was the perfect way to start off our long weekend.
Saturday day the four of us had originally planned to go hiking but it was a bit rainy in the morning so instead we went to the Saltwater Chophouse . The Saltwater Chophouse is this adorably quaint cafe with nothing short of incredible food. I’d definitely say add this spot to your must-try list for the next time you visit the Sunshine Coast! Our weekend away was capped off with a family dinner at Jer’s parents house, which (as usual!) was incredibly delicious.
I posted photos throughout our trip on instagram (urbanumbrella29) so if you didn’t see some snaps from our weekend on the Sunshine Coast then be sure to follow along by simply clicking here!
