I love that we’re approaching spring, and already my mind is fully on florals, culottes, and bright fresh colour palettes. But, we’re not fully there just yet. We’re in this strange transitional period. Some days are bright and sunny, and others are cold and wintery. The weather is unpredictable and that means we need to make our style flexible to work for whatever the day may bring.
Transition Your Style from Winter to Spring
Invest in a Light Jacket
A light jacket, or leather jacket, will become an essential during this winter-to-spring transitional time of year. Our heavy winter coats are too heavy for the mild temperatures, but we can’t forgo a coat entirely due to unpredictable rain and wind. Look for a coat that offers you a bit of warmth, is waterproof, and will protect you from the wind.
Be Prepared for the Rain
You know what they say – April showers bring May flowers! March and April tend to be rainy, and that means you need to be prepared for it! Invest in pieces that’ll keep you dry such as a pair of cute rainboots, a waterproof jacket, and a fun umbrella. Find more style advice on how to look your best in the rain with this guide on how to look Stylish in the Rain.
Add on Lighter Layers
Since the temperatures are warming up slightly, you’re going to want to layer up with lighter pieces. Thinner knits will keep you warm but will be more breathable. You’ll want pieces that will keep you warm but you’ll be able to take off if the day gets warmer than expected.
Layer on a Scarf
During the fall, winter, and spring – scarves are one of my favourite pieces to add a bit of colour and comfort to an outfit. During spring, add in soft pastels and prints to liven up your style.
Pack along Gloves
It’s still a bit chilly out, and if there’s one thing I hate about cold weather it’s how cold my hands get! One thing I pack around with me is a pair of gloves in order to keep my hands warm as can be, while also adding a fun element to my look.

All perfect ways to transition! This time of year is always so weird! Super cold one day and then feels like spring the next. YUCK! (probably why I’m not a fan of Spring, haha)

I find spring beautiful, but it definitely is finicky weather-wise! It’s especially hard when you wake up early and it’s cold and then by mid-afternoon its bright and sunny out!!
Stunning Bree! I love the flared jeans

I’d wear a scarf all year round if I could. They’re one of my favorite fashion accessories and a perfect way to transition seasons.

All such great tips! Love those flares on you too!
I always struggle to transition from one season into another and it’s normally an abrupt “jump” for me: all chunky sweaters are stored away introducing lighter fabrics, etc. And then comes the dilemma: I am freezing lol. These are great tips especially for the everchanging weather in England. You look gorgeous, Bree & rocking those flares! I used to own a pair million years ago and I would love to bring them back. Scared but it’s simply important to find that perfect pair. You did find them, girl!

Spring can be a fickle season, sometimes it’s best to just keep treating it like winter and be able to take off your coat and gloves if you are so lucky! (but usually I end up dressing for the spring weather I’m imagining and not the wintery reality!)
Chic on the Cheap
This is a nice winter to spring look. The flared jeans look great. I have a light green vintage coat that’s very light weight. I feel like the spring color helps me transition to spring even when it’s cold.
I cannot stop wearing flared denim and blanket scarves this season. Love your scarf, jacket and gloves – so cute. You are warm and polished for a cold Wintery day. =)
I started a linkup on Thursdays and I would love for you to share this pretty outfit – everyone needs to see it. Linkup below. Thank you and have a great weekend! Ada. =)
