The Top 10 Most Essential Travel Beauty Products

If there’s one way I love to spend my time, it’s traveling. I love everything about it. Getting out of your comfort zone to discover a new culture is just so incredible and it’s something everyone should experience!

Every year I make a point to head out of town and experience something new.

Last year, Jeremy and I went to Cuba and loved it. This year though, we debated over many destinations and finally landed in France.

I am so excited to be traveling to France for the very first time. It’s always been a dream of mine to explore France, experience Paris, see the countryside, visit Normandy,  and now it’s all finally happening!

Since I am going away so soon, travel and packing have been a hot topic in my mind.

The Top 10 Most Essential Travel Beauty Products

The truth is that the one thing that always proves tricky when travelling abroad is what exactly to pack – and more specifically, what to pack in our beauty bags.

It’s hard to narrow down our favourite products and skincare without second guessing ourselves.

Since I am a type-A personality, I pretty much have my beauty bag packed – and our trip is two weeks away. Today I am sharing my 10 Travel Beauty Essentials that ALWAYS make the cut when I head off travelling.

Top 10 Travel Beauty Products

SPF Foundation

If you’re traveling to a location that is warm sunny than you’re going to want to make sure that products with SPF are a priority in your beauty bag.

Rather than leaving it up to chance and burning, pack along items that will help combat oiliness and sweater while also protecting your skin from the harmful rays of the sun.

While I always pack a sunscreen, I also like to pack along an SPF foundation. Powder foundations with SPF are a great option to avoid that slick sunscreen feeling on your skin.

SPF Lipbalm

Like I mentioned above, SPF products need to be a priority when you’re traveling! Investing in a quality SPF Lipbalm, such as Sun Bum SPF 30 lip balm, will help protect your lips from the sun and also keep them hydrated.

If you’re like me then this is especially necessary as I find my lips always become much drier and more chapped while flying. Nothing is more painful and uncomfortable then burning your lips, so just be sure to apply your SPF balm frequently.

Sunscreen

Regardless of where your next trip is, the one thing you’re going to want to be sure to pack along is sunscreen.

Sunscreen will help protect your skin from harmful rays and allow you to enjoy your vacation fully – because as we all know, there’s nothing that puts a damper on your vacation quite like a bad sunburn!

My trip to France is coming up fast, and while it will just be spring and we do not plan on spending days at the beach, I’ll definitely be packing along a face and body sunscreen to ensure I don’t get any painful burns!

Two Lip Colour Options

When you’re traveling for a long period of time, you want to allow yourself some versatility without over-packing. Along with packing a great lip balm, I also always like to give myself two lipstick options.

Typically, I’ll bring one neutral lip colour, such as Fresh Beauty tinted lip balm in Petal, and one bright statement lipstick ( I know they look similar in the images, but they are VERY different in person!) – like Revlon Ultra HD in Temptation.

Skincare Set

Just because you’re heading away from your usual routine doesn’t mean you should forget it entirely.

Packing along your skincare set, or a travel-size version of your usual skincare will help keep your skin looking fresh.

I find skincare to be especially essential since you’re using more products on your skin when traveling (ie. Sunscreen) and you need to be able to remove those extra products.

A Blush / Bronzer / Highlighter Set

Any items that you can get in a set will be useful space-wise when you’re traveling.

I love bronzer and highlighter duo kits as they are compact, and they can also double up as eyeshadows. Products that can be multipurpose like this always prove as practical and useful.

Nail Care

One mistake I’ve made before is forgetting to pack along my much-needed nail polish and makeup removers.

Peeling and chipped nail polish looks bad and I find it so frustrating. And, leaving your makeup on all day and night is terrible for your skin.

Many times, I have forgotten to pack along a nail care kit, and each time I have ended up kicking myself for it.  I mean, really – is there anything more annoying than a hangnail?

Be sure to pack along a little nail care kit to avoid having jagged painful nails. Since you’re packing along a nail care kit as well as nail polish remover, be sure to also pack along a couple nail polishes for you to play with while away.

I personally always pack one neutral colour and one statement colour so that I have a bit more variety.

Mascara – Original / Waterproof

If you’re heading on a tropical vacation, packing along a waterproof mascara will be essential.

While I am really not a fan of waterproof mascara (I hate how difficult it is to remove!), it is pretty essential when it’s that hot out and there’s a high likelihood of spending the day on the beach or at the pool.

If you’re not traveling to a tropical destination than you don’t need to pack a waterproof mascara.

Eyeshadow Palette

Rather than packing individual eyeshadows, pack one palette to cover your eyeshadow needs. Palettes are versatile and will allow you create a variety of looks while not taking up much space in your luggage.

If you are really low maintenance when it comes to your beauty routine – skip bringing a palette entirely and just bring your bronzer/ highlighter duo.

Makeup Brushes

Packing all of these items would be pretty useless without a makeup brush or two!

Be sure to pack along your usual brushes so you can create the looks you like.

I really love this guide of yours and its perfect for me. Nice explanation and you have pointed out some valid points exceptionally well. I usually travel around Asian
countries and the sun here is different than western countries. Though I have my own kits, I love reading tips and articles like these because I’m learning new things.
    Thanks for this!

Single-use items are used for a short time, but they have a lasting impact on our environment. I believe nature is sacred and we need to cherish it, support it, and respect it. That’s why when I go on a hike I always make sure to bring my reusable water bottle.

Carrying a reusable water bottle is a simple Superhabit that you can implement anywhere you go! So this summer stay hydrated and stay environmentally responsible with a reusable water bottle! #WhatsYourSuperhabit
