As a huge fan of Urban Decay products, it seems I can never withhold my excitement for too long before rushing out to grab their latest product. I have loved all their products, but in particular, since their first Naked Palette release, I have been hooked on their eyeshadow palettes.  The original Naked, Naked2, and Naked3 Palettes have become staple items for me as I often turn to them to create my daily looks. When I heard Urban Decay was releasing the Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette I couldn’t wait to try it out – I love a good smoky eye! Today I am sharing my first impression and review of Urban Decays Smoky Palette, so click through to read more! the urban umbrella style blog, vancouver style blog, vancouver style blogger, vancouver style bloggers, vancouver fashion blog, vancouver lifestyle blog, vancouver health blog, vancouver fitness blog, vancouver travel blog, canadian fashion blog, canadian style blog, canadian lifestyle blog, canadian health blog, canadian fitness blog, canadian travel blog, west coast style, bree aylwin, urban decay naked smoky palette review, urban decay makeup review, best urban decay palette, best beauty blog, best beauty blogger, best travel blogs, top vancouver fashion bloggers, top fashion blogs, best style blogs 2015, popular fashion blogs, top style blogs, top lifestyle blogs, top fitness blogs, top health blogs, top travel blogsthe urban umbrella style blog, vancouver style blog, vancouver style blogger, vancouver style bloggers, vancouver fashion blog, vancouver lifestyle blog, vancouver health blog, vancouver fitness blog, vancouver travel blog, canadian fashion blog, canadian style blog, canadian lifestyle blog, canadian health blog, canadian fitness blog, canadian travel blog, west coast style, bree aylwin, urban decay naked smoky palette review, urban decay makeup review, best urban decay palette, best beauty blog, best beauty blogger, best travel blogs, top vancouver fashion bloggers, top fashion blogs, best style blogs 2015, popular fashion blogs, top style blogs, top lifestyle blogs, top fitness blogs, top health blogs, top travel blogs

Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette Review

First Impression

Upon first impression, I thought the packaging was gorgeous. I am a sucker for pretty packaging, and in my opinion – Urban Decay always knocks it out of the park. The smoky great packaging with the metallic silver print looks beautiful and conveys the Smoky Palette message perfectly.
When it came to the actual Naked Smoky Palette, I immediately noticed that it had a balance of warm and cool tones. Many of the Naked Palettes lean to one side or the other, but the Smoky Palette has a fairly equal amount of warm tones and cool tones. This palette also has a great mixture of shimmery, metallic, and matte shadows which offers a lot of versatility.

– Black Market: A deep black shadow. (metallic finish)
– Smolder: Eggplant shadow with subtle shine throughout it. (metallic finish)
– Password: A soft matte brown shadow  (matte finish)
– Whiskey: A warm chocolatey brown (matte finish)

Texture & Pigmentation

As usual, Urban Decay delivers on the texture of the shadows. They are incredibly velvety and apply very easily. The colours are highly pigmented but also very blend-able. Unlike many shadows that have strong pigmentation but are difficult to blend into to one another, the Naked Smoky Palette shadows have strong colour while also blending into one another very smoothly.
In addition, I found that after wearing a few shadows from this palette during my trip to Seattle that they did not wear off or lose colour throughout the day. I always prime my eyes which helps colour stay throughout the day, but it’s rare for me to find a shadow that I can put on at 8AM and still feel confident it looks the same by 10PM. I have always found that Urban Decay eyeshadows last for hours and hours without fading or looking smudgy.

Summary

Well, if you haven’t guessed already – I think this palette is fantastic! Urban Decay products are all amazing, but their palettes are just beyond! If you’re looking for a palette that provides high-impact colour, velvety texture, a variety of shadow colours and finishes, then this is the palette for you.
One thing that is also really important to me is that the products that I use come from companies that value the same things I value. As an animal lover, it is hard for me at times to even believe that companies test on animals. All Urban Decay products are Vegan and completely cruelty free, and that is just one more reason that I adore their company.

Cost

The Urban Decay Smoky Palette costs $64. I have always found the cost of Urban Decay products to be fair considering the quality and how long they last.

I really, really want that palate! It looks gorgeous and I've been drooling over it since I first saw it at Sephora.

I have the Naked2 palate and while it's a hefty price tag, they are the best AND last for such a long time, that it's worth every penny.

“I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛 I s “I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛

I saw so many powerful messages today from people sharing their "why" — the reason behind why they were there and standing as one of the "fringe". Here's a few reasons that I saw and heard:

- Why? Because I want my child to grow seeing smiles and smiling
- Why? Because I miss my family and loved ones.
- Why? Because my lived experience tells me not to trust what is happening right now.
- Why? Because I believe in our informed consent principles.
- Why? Because I believe in choice without coercion.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my job as a healthcare worker.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my business.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my home.
- Why? Because I’ve been injured.
- Why? Because I think there’s a better way forward for everyone.
- Why? Because I chose what I knew was best for me and I want everyone else to be free to do that as well.

Everyone has a unique reason why, and it’s important to take a moment to recognize and acknowledge them. Now is the time. Let's come together and be united💛

I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the loss and illness that so many have experienced from C. It has been an extraordinarily hard two years for many, many people, for all sorts of different reasons and it is not my aim to diminish any of them. What I am trying to express is that we are at a breaking point societally.

If we continue to move forward with coercion, mandates, restrictions, and divisive passports based on fear (or a hope) then we risk setting precedents that we may not be comfortable leaning on in the future. We also risk dividing our society to such a degree that may make it difficult, if not impossible, to ever bring back together. Despite all of the debates, arguments, and comments made over the last few years, I do not believe that deep down Canadians want to live in a state of perpetual division.

If this is not the time to unite and end these mandates, when is? It is our systems that are broken, and they have been broken for a very long time. We all know this. Let's unite and fix them, and more together 💛

Creating our own peace ☮️

Nearing the end of 2021, one thing that Jer & I wanted to prioritize was creating our own peace. Life has been exhausting for the last long while and, like most people, our mental well-being suffered from the current state of Canada. We knew we needed to make some changes, add something to our lives to remove us (even temporarily, now and again) from the chaos that is now the “new normal”. So, we began making road trips around BC to find our very own home away from home. I feel immensely lucky to now have this remote sanctuary in our lives. It is somewhere we can go when life gets too overwhelming, somewhere we could live eventually if life continues to be overwhelming. In just the first few days here, I’ve already felt a shift in my mindset. I feel incredibly lucky to have this place and already it feels like home. 💖
✨Growing pains✨ . . . 2021, for many of us, w ✨Growing pains✨
. . .
2021, for many of us, was a year of growth. Some of it was painful, most of it inspiring, and all of it necessary. Sometimes growing means needing to shed the older versions of ourselves and sometimes that can be difficult or cause a loss in friendships or relationships. It can be challenging - believe me, I get it. But, anything or anyone who couldn't respect your growth then won't respect your future growth. While growth can be painful it is not nearly as painful as the dull consistent ache of feeling stuck.
