7 Things to Do on Your Next Vacation

This trip has come up so quickly!

About a month ago, one of my closest friends called me pretty upset about her vacation time. She had switched office locations and with the change also came a change in regulations.

While originally she thought she would be able to carry her remaining vacation time into next year, she actually had to use it all up before the end of the year.

With one week to spare she was deciding whether or not to just forgo her time off or have a little staycation. I immediately nixed both plans and thought it was the perfect opportunity for the two of us to jet off together for a fun girl’s trip!

When we first booked the trip it felt like it was a lifetime away, but October truly flew by and bam – the day to head off to Mexico was here.

And it feels like this vacation has come at the perfect time since I am definitely over this cold weather.

7 Things to Do on Your Next Vacation

Experience the Culture

Whenever I go away I always like to make a point to get to know the culture.

This time, I am excited to go on the San Sebastian tour to see some of the local historical sights and learn some of the back story of the incredible architecture there.

From what I understand, this is a city built way back in 1605 as a mining town and today it holds many historical gems. I can’t wait to see it all!

Catch up on Sleep

I love my sleep, but early mornings and busy nights this past week in preparation of our trip has left me… sleepy.

I plan to catch up on those ZZZ’s by ignoring my alarm clock for a few days and allowing myself to sleep until I wake up. Usually this is about 7:30A.M so don’t worry – I won’t waste my entire day!

Soak Up the Rays

During the summer, I love to sit outdoors and soak up the sunshine.

I plan to get my sunshine-fix while in Puerto Vallarta. Of course though, I will be pretty much bathing in sunscreen to avoid a sunburn.

Live in my Swimsuit

Well, not live in per-say, but I really want to make the most my time in the sun by sporting some cute bikinis and swimsuits while I am there.

I have so many adorable bikinis that I wait all year to wear in the summer, and this past summer I really don’t feel like I made the most of them!

I am making up for lost time by ensuring that I wear this vacation style essential on the daily while away.

Skincare, Spa Days, and Sweet Sips

I am always going to make a point on this trip to allot time for the things I usually don’t have enough time for.

I’d like to pack along a few skincare masks, deep condition my hair overnight, and indulge in some sweet sips – piña coladas here I come!

Sundresses, Sun Hats, and Sunglasses

Each winter, I pack away a majority of my summery clothes into those vacuum seal bags to hibernate for the winter, but  this year I’ve delayed my little pack up session for this vacation.

I am bringing along all of my very favourite summer sundresses, sun hats, and sunglasses for this trip. I can’t wait to break out all of my summer style favourites for one more week before really throwing in the towel for winter!

Read, Read, and Read Some More

The last few months have been so busy that I’ve felt like I’ve put one of my favourite pastimes to the side: reading.

For our week away I am bringing to books that I’ve wanted read for forever – and I cannot wait!

If you had told me 10 years ago that I would want If you had told me 10 years ago that I would want to spend all of my spare time off grid, in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by trees and mountains — I would’ve told you that you were crazy... But here we are 🤷‍♀️😂🌲💛 #WhereLifeLeads
“I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛 I s “I want to grow seeing you smiling” 💛

I saw so many powerful messages today from people sharing their "why" — the reason behind why they were there and standing as one of the "fringe". Here's a few reasons that I saw and heard:

- Why? Because I want my child to grow seeing smiles and smiling
- Why? Because I miss my family and loved ones.
- Why? Because my lived experience tells me not to trust what is happening right now.
- Why? Because I believe in our informed consent principles.
- Why? Because I believe in choice without coercion.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my job as a healthcare worker.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my business.
- Why? Because I’ve lost my home.
- Why? Because I’ve been injured.
- Why? Because I think there’s a better way forward for everyone.
- Why? Because I chose what I knew was best for me and I want everyone else to be free to do that as well.

Everyone has a unique reason why, and it’s important to take a moment to recognize and acknowledge them. Now is the time. Let's come together and be united💛

I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the I want to be clear: I am not trying to dismiss the loss and illness that so many have experienced from C. It has been an extraordinarily hard two years for many, many people, for all sorts of different reasons and it is not my aim to diminish any of them. What I am trying to express is that we are at a breaking point societally.

If we continue to move forward with coercion, mandates, restrictions, and divisive passports based on fear (or a hope) then we risk setting precedents that we may not be comfortable leaning on in the future. We also risk dividing our society to such a degree that may make it difficult, if not impossible, to ever bring back together. Despite all of the debates, arguments, and comments made over the last few years, I do not believe that deep down Canadians want to live in a state of perpetual division.

If this is not the time to unite and end these mandates, when is? It is our systems that are broken, and they have been broken for a very long time. We all know this. Let's unite and fix them, and more together 💛

Creating our own peace ☮️

Nearing the end of 2021, one thing that Jer & I wanted to prioritize was creating our own peace. Life has been exhausting for the last long while and, like most people, our mental well-being suffered from the current state of Canada. We knew we needed to make some changes, add something to our lives to remove us (even temporarily, now and again) from the chaos that is now the “new normal”. So, we began making road trips around BC to find our very own home away from home. I feel immensely lucky to now have this remote sanctuary in our lives. It is somewhere we can go when life gets too overwhelming, somewhere we could live eventually if life continues to be overwhelming. In just the first few days here, I’ve already felt a shift in my mindset. I feel incredibly lucky to have this place and already it feels like home. 💖
✨Growing pains✨ . . . 2021, for many of us, w ✨Growing pains✨
. . .
2021, for many of us, was a year of growth. Some of it was painful, most of it inspiring, and all of it necessary. Sometimes growing means needing to shed the older versions of ourselves and sometimes that can be difficult or cause a loss in friendships or relationships. It can be challenging - believe me, I get it. But, anything or anyone who couldn't respect your growth then won't respect your future growth. While growth can be painful it is not nearly as painful as the dull consistent ache of feeling stuck.
