This month has flown by. It was a great month. I went on a quick little getaway out of Vancouver to Seattle, shopped the Seattle Premium Outlets, got all dressed up for Jeremy’s Christmas party, and ran a week of exciting giveaways here on the UU. To think that Christmas has already come and gone really blows my mind. This month has been jam-packed, but it’s been so much fun. It is so wild to think that only a few short weeks ago, I was shaking my head in shock over flipping the calendar to December – and now here I am, ready to open a whole new year.
Speaking of the new year, it’s ALMOST New Years Eve! New Years Eve is really one of the most fun times of year. It’s the perfect excuse to dress up in your most glamourous of clothing and add a bit of sparkle to your style. Since my style typically tends to be more casual and laid-back, I love that NYE breaks my usual t-shirt and jeans style to add a bit more pizazz to my look. Today I am sharing 6 New Years Eve outfit ideas, so if you’re still questioning what you’re going to wear then be sure to click through!
6 New Years Eve Outfit Ideas
1. Look Glamorous in a Metallic Print
It’s not everyday that you get to dress up in your finest and New Year’s Eve gives the perfect excuse to dress up in our most brilliant of pieces. Metallic pieces look great year round, but they seem especially essential during the holiday season. While they are typically considered a neutral, a bold metallic print is less of a neutral and more of a statement piece. This metallic floral printed dress is one of my favourite party dresses, and I wore it often last year.
2. Rock a Bold Brocade Print
Last year, brocade was one of my favourite trends. Today, I still absolutely adore all things brocade and feel that it’s the perfect print for the holidays. A festive New Year’s Eve party is perfect opportunity to break out your brocade pieces and rock them with confidence. These bold gold brocade pants definitely are bold and are meant to make a statement which makes them one of my favourites to wear during the holiday season.
If you’re looking for something less bold, don’t worry – this print can definitely be found in a more subtle palette. Brocade prints often come in subtle colour combinations which will help create a minimalist holiday look.
3. Play with Sparkly Accessories
When it comes to your accessories, there’s no easier way to add a bit of glitz and glam to your look than with a statement necklace or a gorgeous pair of earrings. Those bold pieces instantly take simple looks and transform them into more glamorous ensembles. When you think of New Years Eve, instantly all our minds go to sparkle, glitter, confetti, and champagne – or at least, that’s where my mind goes. Adding a sparkly handbag, a sequin skirts, or glittery eye instantly takes a look from being normal to New Years Eve worthy. Your accessories are the key to creating a look that is festively chic.
Since I wear my glasses every day, I also like to look at them as an accessory. In-fact, I typically look at them as my ultimate accessory because I truly do have to wear them each and everyday, and have always felt that they set the tone for my look. Every so often I like to add a new set of frames to my collection. I find that this is the easiest way for me to quickly (and practically) update my look.
Since I am so excited for 2016, I wanted to indulge myself in something a bit more unique than I would usually go for. When I spotted these sparkly Love L777 Rose Gold glasses I simply couldn’t resist them, and I have been wearing them ever since. If you follow me on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter than chances are you already know my obsession with rose gold, and so these glasses immediately jumped out at me. While sparkle may seem impractical for daily wear, these glasses have actually proven to wear easily with casual looks as well as dressy ones!
4. Elevate a Casual Look
As we all know, I am a t-shirt and jeans sort of girl. Especially after a few festive parties and events, all I want is to just hang out in my very favourite cozy pieces. I like feeling comfortable and during these cold months there’s nothing more comfortable than a comfy shirt and a great pair of jeans – well, other than PJs. If you’re not into dressing up than there’s an easy way to simply elevate your casual outfit for your NYE night out look.
If you’re wanting casual New Years Eve Outfit, than try pairing your favourite pair of denim with a embellished blouse and a great pair of heels – or, if you’re not one for heels then there are tons of great flat shoes, too! By simply adding on a shirt in a holiday colour (like this rich forest green) with a little embellishment you have quickly taken a casual look and transformed it into something a bit more spiffy.
5. Make a Statement with Sequins
I love love love sequinned leggings. They are so playful, bold, and unexpected. These golden sequin leggings are so much fun, but they definitely aren’t something that can be worn every day. They call for a time and a place, and there’s no time better suited to these sparkly leggings than New Year’s Eve. Worn with a basic blouse or long tunic, sequin leggings can add the perfect amount of sparkle to spring in 2016.
There are also so many great sequin dresses available if you’re looking to glitter from head to toe. A sequinned dress is such a great statement piece and NYE really provides the perfect chance to wear it. Simply style your sequinned number with a pair of basic heels and elegant jewelry and you’re ready to go!
6. When in Doubt Go with a LBD
The little black dress is the ultimate classic item that every woman needs in her closet. I recently shared a few tips on how to find the perfect little black dress because I truly do feel we all should have (at least) one in our wardrobes on standby for one of those frazzled “I have nothing to wear!” moments. If you’re having one of those awful moments before heading out for a night on the town this New Year’s Eve than be sure to stop, take a breath, and grab your LBD. Simply add on a few accessories (like the ones I mentioned earlier) to create a more playful holiday look.
