Last Friday was black Friday and truly – people went nuts. Now, I am a girl who loves her shopping – but when it comes to crowded sales, you can count me out. I briefly shopped the sales with my girl friend on Friday but as quickly as I got there, I scurried away. Today I am sharing a few reasons why this year I said “Screw Black Friday sales!” and opted to stay home in my PJs instead – click through to read more!
Apparently, I am not a people person.
Kidding, I love people – I just hate crowds. I can’t stand trying to weave my way through all to find that the pair of pants I had my eye on no longer are available in my size. The gaggles of crazed sale-seekers freak me out, and if me and another person are vying for the same item – they’ll win, every time. Maybe I’ve read to many stories about fervent shoppers trampling one another for 50% off a turkey at Walmart – but I simply won’t risk my life for a good deal. OK – that got a bit dramatic, but you know what I am saying.
I’ve never enjoyed crowds. In-fact, I remember even as a teenager going to music festivals really overwhelmed me because of the swarms of people you had to wade through to see your favourite band. And then, sometimes there were mosh pits – and I don’t think I even really need to explain why I wasn’t a fan of those. I can recall that back in high-school I would truly get anxiety over attempting to scale the stairs to my next class over the groups of kids sitting on them, just “hanging out”. After saying “excuse me, excuse me” a million times over I felt like I never would make it up the two flights of stairs to my science class.
I Shopped the Sales in the Comfort of My Home
The fact is, a lot of the sales that applied in stores also applied online. Why bother venture into a busy congested store (filled with people fighting over the same sequin dress) when I could just calmly check out the sales on their website? That Friday morning, I sat down with my coffee and hung out in my PJs as I shopped a few of my favourite stores online.
Here’s the thing about sales shopping, often times you go and buy a bunch of things you just don’t really need. Or, at least thats been my experience. I grabbed a few things online that I needed – like a new pair of black jeans, but I didn’t go overboard. I’ve always found that online shopping allows me to be a bit pickier with the items that initially grabbed my attention. You’re able to really review the selected pieces rather than get caught up in the chaos of the sale and just purchase things on a whim.
Apartment Living means Apartment-size Closet
One thing I’ve realized in the past few years is that apartment living equals out to apartment sized closets. When you move into a apartment, you need to learn how to condense your closet – otherwise you’ll be drowning in dresses, shirts, and skirts. Going and shopping sales, getting overwhelmed and basically purchasing a whole new wardrobe in one fall-swoop just doesn’t work with the sort of life that I lead. This is just one more reason I decided to skip out on the Black Friday sales this year – my closet simply couldn’t handle it.
If any of you went Black Friday Sales shopping, I hope you found some amazing deals! I know there were some incredible pieces out there at awesome prices – cheers to all of you that could brave the swarms of people!

With you 100%! I skipped this year too, and will be moving into a tiny apartment next month. Simplify all the way!

Loving your photos Bree – I didn't do any black Friday shopping this year, either (but it's not such a big deal over here).

I love people and usually don't mind a small crowd Bree but I did not and would not shop on Black Friday… that's a little crazy out there… and we are not as busy as the US stores xox
Same here. I did quite a bit of shopping on Cyber Monday but did not buy very much from physical stores. I did go to a shopping centre but there wasn't really anything good. Most sizes were out.
